Update on me -

I am under the Redwoods Trees again 20 years after the last time I was here before back in 1992. The trees are even more awesome but the camping grounds where we stayed, are not as nice. So mom and I are in a different place on a river called Klamath River RV Park.

Internet is weak here and photos will have to wait till another time.
This is the start of my third day here and have enjoyed the seals and all of the birds in this area. A nearby camping fisherman shared some of his smoked salmon fish he took from this river. Today I found out the fishermen do not like the seals here in the river.

The seals will come right up to the boat and remove the fish right off the hook and sometimes taking a good part of your line with it. Only the Indians in this area are allow to shoot or even knock the seals as they come up to take your fish. So yesterday many of camping mates here just pulled their boats out of the water and just sat around the campfire. I counted five seals at a time with their heads up out of the water yesterday in the river.

The fog is rolling out and this my last day might be a good one for photos. Hope all is well with my friends and you have a good day.

I am under my own roof.. left my mom with my sister and drove home to Starkville, MS. So my trip to the West Coast and the Redwood Trees is now over... Life however is staying interesting..
On the way to my home, I had a call from my younger daughter. She got into some problems with her little car and was on the way to borrow the extra truck we have for tail gate parties. The young daughter's problems was she has been in a car accident. I will not rest till I put my arms around her.

Hi, Patti,

Just checking in to see if you've managed to slog home or if you decided to dally a bit. I'm glad you're on your home turf, anyhow. I always figure if someone doesn't have to drive more than four hours to claim me, that counts as home. ;)

Be back later to see how things are.

Good morning, Patti.
Glad to see your post. I noticed the radar a few minutes ago. Some of that rain probably came from Oklahoma overnight. I think that storm system and all its little atmospheric pre-impulses played tag with you all the way from the TX panhandle. Sorry. :(

At least you are in home territory now. I'm guessing you saw the wind advisory. Take care and stay safe the rest of the way home.

Up-date. - not home yet -

Tired and but safe, we drove into the state of Mississippi late on Saturday - October 13, around sunset. We try hard not to drive after dark as mom does not see as well anymore. This close to home means a short last leg to her driveway on Sunday. We pulled into a rest and welcome area just outside of Hernado on I-55. Then went to bed for what we are thinking, is our last night on the road. Hmmm......

During the night, I suddenly awoke. I was sleeping by an open window. Something worke me up. From the age of nine to twenty-one, I lived in this area. The wind and trees told me a storm with lots of rain, was on the way.

I pulled out my I-Pad to check the radar and sure enough, all te storms over the midwest had lumped together to make a thick band of rain which were about to sweep over the whole state of Mississippi. It did not look like any high winds but a long day of just rain for the area we were in and where we would drive to on Sunday. The bad part, it was going to be darn hard to park this big RV, down a hill and behind my Mom's house in all of that water when we reach home. Sigh!

I am going to ask my Mother if she is interested in going to the casinos in Tunica to let the rain move out and the ground around her place dry out a bit. She is still sleeping as I write this note.

Hi there TomballTXPride,
Thanks for dropping in to here.
Yep those trees are really something. I am unable to load my photos up here due to a poor Internet connection so must wait till I find a better one or reach home.
Right now I am in the pan - part of OK and when mom gets up will be back on the road for the next state - Arkansas. We are at exit 308 on I-40. Had to get off the road yesterday due to the rain and mainly the wind.

Well mom and I are outside Oklahoma City at a casino called Firelake just off I-40. As my mom got some needed sleep, I watched a small thunderstorm move over head early this morning. Now the parking lot is rather wet but at least we did not have any high winds. At some point, (around 11:00?) we will be back on the road heading toward Memphis, Tenn. where we will pick up I-55 south and back into Mississippi.
Bless you dear Barefootontherocks for your watchful eye on the weather.

Hi Patti,
Just checking on your progress.

There is a strong weather system coming from the west. Worst of it should be Friday and Saturday. You might want to think about heading south sooner rather than later. Into TX and then east. Any case, you might want to take a look at the SPC. They already have a slight severe risk area out for TX panhandle Friday.

Running on two hours of sleep here but thanks for your comments sweet shoreacres. I took my mom to your blog and it was a welcome bit "feel good" for her and I.

The jacks were worked again this morning and now seem to be fixed. Now the body work part has started and might taken 8 hours to finish. Maybe if all goes well, back on the road sometime tomorrow? Time will tell what is ahead for us.

Oh, Patti - what a mess. I do hope this is the day that things finally get fixed up. There comes a point where even the most determined effort to call things "an adventure" just don't do it any longer!

Are you planning to take I-40 to Little Rock and then go down through Pine Bluff? I suppose the good news is that there are plenty of truck centers along that route - but my word, I think you've spent enough time messing with those!

Please keep us updated - it sounds like you're coping pretty well, but it's certainly no fun!

Small up date - Tuesday - October 9, 2012 -
The long awaited parts for our RV came into the shop. The new jack was put in but there was some problems with it not working right. Mom and I left the men working on it and got off the lot. Had nice dinner at a place that claim to have a 72 oz streak free if you can eat it within one hour. More on this later. Anyway we got the call all was fix during our late lunch, around 3:00.

We returned to test drive the RV because the airbags had not been working and would not let us drive it. We were able to gas up, dump, and get the propane for heat, a few miles down the road. Returned to the lot to test the jacks. That part failed.. The RV ended up in such an angle, it looked like it was in danger of rolling over!!!

I had left my mom alone while she did the jack test. The workers had left some grease spots on the inside of the RV so I went to get some cleaning stuff from inside the parts shop. As i was retuning, I met my mom coming in at the door. "I need help! The RV is about to roll over! "

She continued in passing me to cry the same at some workers while I looked outside at the RV. "WOW!", the jacks on one side of the RV, had fully extended creating an angle looked like 45° and truly did look like it was about to tip over onto the cabs of two trucks parked next to our RV on the driver's side. I then ran for the service department, bypassing the parts area and shared my worry with the men in there. One right away came out to see the problem. He turned and told me it was ok as the RV will not go any farther upward.

The same man from the service department was able to climb up inside. (The door was on the high side) That man was able to get the jacks on the high side, to come back down. The jacks on the driver side however, are out with one just touching the ground and will not come back up.

We were to get body work done today but it is back to working on the jacks.

I should had got the names of the two men that came out to help us expressly the fellow who climbed inside the RV. He was so calm with the the two worried females on his hands. He made sure we were safe away from the RV as he went to work on it. Then he somehow flew upward into the RV. I missed that part as I was trying to offer a hug to my mom. All I know is he got inside with a door that was like chest high off the ground!

Well the Lord knows their names and I am thankful for their help in my prayer tonight.

Thanks for asking. Nope still in Amarillo TX at the Truck Center, waiting for parts. The jack was to come in on Friday, then they said Monday, but it isn't here yet. :-(
Once we are back on the road, it will take four days for us to reach home. Well, 17 hours at 55 mph.
On another update, I have now all my Meds and mom is missing only one. Mom's med is at her house and if she has to pay for another one, it will be out of her pocket and will cost big time.
I so hope all works out.

Well thanks guys!
Today, was dark and damp cold here in the truck lot in Amarillo, TX. Mom and I stayed for the most part inside the RV. We did not see any snow but it sure felt like it was about to fall from the skies at any time.

OH NO Patti! That's horrible. I had a feeling that things were not quite right since we have not heard from you for many days. So sorry. Hopefully you will be back of the road soon and that you will make it home without additional problems.

I fixed the website address and tested it out. I was able to get to it without any problems. The first time I must have made a typo. I checked the other two posts and they are accessible too.

I just got out of bed and need to go wake up with coffee and take care of my Koko. I'll talk to you later, probably on my blog.

Well darlings, we broken down on the way out from home and now we are broken down again but this time we are in Amarillo, TX. One of the jacks that level/support the RV when the slideouts are being used - broke and would not go back up. You can not drive down the road with this. The broken jack was wired up but the airbags then would not work as the system still saw the jack was down on the ground. The airbags are part of the suspension system that lets the RV roll down the road. Without the airbags, the RV would bounce so much, you could not drive it down the road. I know that for a fact as we did try to do just this after the jack was zip-tied and wired up. So we got towed into a shop again.

Unlike before however this driver of the tow truck was not as careful and the backside of the RV was dragged as it was taken into the shop (Amarillo Truck Center). The idiot that did over 2,000 dollars of damage to the backside was from Allritetowing out of Tucumcari, NM. The company will paid for the mess as I found out today.

I have been busy trying get all the ducks in a row with our jack repair and now, the mess to the back end. Also since mom and I are running out of our Meds, getting that stuff taken care of too. Parts should be here by Monday morning and I pray we will be back on the road Tuesday. Latest - Wednesday morning. I have to have some blood test done to see if a certain new med can be continue and one of mom's Meds is waiting for her at home in the refrigerator. We both the have a med that can not be refilled and will run out on the 12 and 14 of Oct.

Shesssss!! Life can be so interesting at times.

I'm glad to hear that you, mom and OB finally made it to the redwoods!

Like Pros, I hope your trip home is enjoyable. And uneventful!

I just zipped off for some reading about the Klamath River and the various Native American tribes of the area, including the Klamath peoples.

I'd heard mention of the tribes last week while watching "Into The West" on AMC. An excellent series, which views history from the white point of view, as well as the native people's.

Tonight we are headed back home and staying tonight here--
We are here -    A little place right off 101.
The place - Jaxon Keys, is in the Mendocino County and has a wonderful lay of the land with beautiful trees. I think they are live oak.

About redagainPatti

The nick, redagain is short for the words - "Redwoods again". It stands for a goal to sleep again in a tent under the Redwood Trees in northern Ca.
