From Douglas to Willcox In South East Arizona

Thanks to Shaun, a very long time meteorologists and support for personal weather stations with Weather Underground, the Elfrida, Arizona regional forecast has been re-associated with the NWS forecast for Cochise county below 5000 feet from Douglas to Willcox. I've been trying for nearly a year to get Weather Underground to correct the mistake they made during a major site update nearly a year ago that associated the Elfrida forecast with the mountains above 5000 feet.

Many trouble tickets and emails were sent to the Weather Underground support center with no success. As a last resort, I emailed Shaun to ask for his help, pleading my case as a personal weather station up-loader for over 10 years now. I worked with Shaun during the very first days of Weather Underground testing a pilot program to include personal weather station info onto their web site and he provided email support getting me up and running.

Thanks Shaun. You listened and helped when others ignored.

Thought it a significant enough weather event to post. Coldest temps we have ever recorded here at -3 degrees this morning.

April 7, 2010: Dagaz, our Rainwise 2000 weather station reporting data continuously for almost 11 years since 1999 sent its last update. We decommissioned Dagaz and powered up Dagaz II, our new Rainwise MK III station. It is sad to retire a good friend but it is also very nice to NOT have those damned SW winds that we have permanently had for the past several months! You can't argue that Rainwise makes a great weather station to last that many years in the open seve...

Our 11 year old weather station has been a good one but the last 6 years in the Arizona sun took its toll on the anemometer a few months ago. First the sensor stopped sending direction data so the wind has been out of the southwest for a long time. Just last week a blade broke from the wind sensor so the winds and gusts have been reporting much less than they actually were. I am happy to let you know that we have a new Rainwise MK III on its way to Elfrida. Hopefull...
