Blowed Away

By: rcl, 2:30 AM GMT on May 22, 2008

This has been the day of the winds. Power poles swaying, outbuildings blowing over, power lines swaying and power surges all day. The highest gust we recorded was 37MPH but that was just before the big winds hit and the power went out so our weather station went out. Really bad today. On my way home from SV I could barely make out the shadowy outline of the Swisshelm Mts. through the dust. That's bad!

a little rain

By: rcl, 9:03 PM GMT on May 17, 2008

We got a little rain the other night, about 2 tenths of an inch. The mesquites and Bird of Paradise seemed to like it. The Bird of Paradise are really loaded with blooms near the house where they get water. Most the of ones our away from the house got smoothered over the last two years with careless weeds and look like they may either die or will take a few years to come back out. I've been saying too much green can kill and the Bird of Paradise plants are a good example....

Almost needed the boat!

By: rcl, 1:12 AM GMT on May 07, 2008

The thunder clouds bloomed and the winds raged and you could see the purple streeks from the clouds with the rain coming down.... but it just wasn't enough to hit the ground. Put the boat back up. We only got 17 raindrops, maybe 12 but probably 3.
