Winter storm watch for
Portage la Prairie - Headingley - Brunkild - Carman issued

Possible blizzard Monday.
The potential for severe winter weather exists over these regions.

A low pressure system currently located in Central Montana is tracking eastward into the Dakotas today. This system will bring a swath of snow to Southern Manitoba today and tonight with highest accumulations north of the Trans Canada highway. Accumulations of 15 to 25 cm are expected by Monday morning in the warning regions with lesser amounts to the south.

Oh, shoot. Just what you don't need. I did see that bit in the forecast about the Trans-Canada highway, and realized I really didn't know anything about it or how close it is to you. Well, now I do. What I did think interesting is that it's a federal/regional system, unlike our interstate system. But the photos look like it would be a great road to travel.

I just hope it doesn't get covered up with too much snow in the next few days!

Blame those darn Americans Tony for the snow. With my luck, the front will hit here too. We may see Spring by June, I hope...LOL

Happy St Paddy's Day.

Good Morning, Plap!

So happy that those antibiotics, etc. seemingly have done the trick and that your feeling much better! I have a strong feeling that your spirometry test, next month, will show a clear lung(s) or prove negative.

Though Irish Eyes are smiling in Mass. today, signs of St. Patty's Day green will be traded back into white on Tuesday, when yet another serious snowstorm is set to arrive. We could be receiving up to a foot or more of heavy, wet snow to tackle before Wednesday's official mark of spring. ARGH! Well, I guess it's best for us (here and other effected places) to make the most of these next couple of snow-free days before we're back into the throes of snowblowing and shoveling again. Like Alley remarked below, at this rate, spring just might be able to make an appearance sometime in June ... and that's if we're lucky!

I still blame ole Punxsutawney Phil (our illustriously miscalculating groundhog) for sleeping on the job this year! So much for his non-shadowy figure (Feb. 2nd) equating to an earlier arrival of warmth, buds and blooms. HA! The only thing bloomin' around these parts is snow! LOL!

Hope you make out much better than we do this week and, in the meantime, stay on the road to full recovery!

Good morning Shore.
The Trans-canada is an interesting highway. I've travelled on it from the Alberta-BC border in the west and as far as Niagra falls in the east.
It a good highway but doesn't have the limited acess the Interstates do. Theere's level crossings almost every mile and most of the major crossings are lacking overpasses. Highway 16 which starts just west of Portage has been called the Yellowhead route and takes a more northerly route to BC. The junction od 1 and 16 has been the scene of many fatal traffic deaths.
Enjoy the day while we huddle in the house and watch the snow blow around.
