A Strange Winter On The Prairie
Posted by: plapman, 2:13 PM GMT on February 13, 2013 +0
Today will be mainly cloudy with a 60% chance of flurries this afternoon. The high will be -2. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low of -15.
-------------------------------------------------
Yesterday Abbey and me took advantage of the warm weather and took a walk in town. We would have went along the gopher trails but the wet snow would have made a for a smelly dog when ewe got home.
This sure is a strange winter for the prairie. We have gotten more snow than usual and warmer temps. the high forecast for Sunday is 0.

Good morning Tony. Overcast with temps around 32F today.

Got to bed at 5 AM so I am going on autopilot at the moment. Trying to finish my coffee and take my meds before I tackle some housework. Been putting it off the past couple of days because of arthritic problems. A bit better today. Tomorrow temps are suppose to go up near 40F.

Have a great day dear ones. Enjoy your warmer temps.

I'm just wondering - despite the strangeness, will this combination of snow and warmth end up helping with flooding in the spring? It seems to me that if the snow keeps melting off, little by little, it might prevent some of the flooding you've had in past years when tremendous amounts thawed all at once.

In any event, enjoy those chances to get out with Abbey! Being cooped up is no fun!

Good Morning, Tony!

Like La Prairie, Mass. is currently experiencing a slight warmup to temps averaging in the 40F's. We're glad that it's not expected to get warmer, otherwise, a large snow melt (from 2 ft dumped over this past weekend) could pose more serious problems.

Glad that your temps rose to a point where you were finally able to go out for a nice walk with Abbey the other day. Hope the weeks ahead will bring about forecasts of a gradual warming trend without more snow or mixed bag. I miss being able to wear spring outerwear or see green lawns with flowers budding. In Abbey's case, I bet she'll enjoy re-exploring more easily found gopher holes. Hard to believe right now, but spring officially arrives in 4-1/2 weeks! Those longer, warmer sunlit days can't come too soon for me! Sounds like we could all use a nice spring thaw!

As always, hope you and yours remain both safe and well throughout this strange and challenging remainder of winter!

Afternoon Tony, right in the high tech world now, crossing from Blks Harbour to home using the computer. Till a few months ago was one location in the world where one could not get on this thing, had to interact with fellow passengers, imagine that, not anymore.

A grand day for sure sun attempting to make it out, no wind, still quite a swell crossing the channel, but no whitecaps.

What is the flood forecast for the Valley this spring? Have somebody insisting I speak with them, have a good one.
