A Bit of Trivia On Medals

Today will be mostly cloudy with a high of 6C(43 F) and winds the WSW at 20 to 25 km/h.
Tonight will be partly cloudy in the evening, then overcast with an overnight low of -1C(30F) with winds from the WSW at 15 to 20 km/h.

What a wet and miserable day it was yesterday. I never got Abbey out for her walk until around 6:30 when we had a a pause in the rain.
I did a bit of work on the medals yesterday by applying a small amount of water proof glue the the tips of the ribbons to keep them from fraying. Today I'll actually get to mount them on a piece of plastic for display.
While researching on the proper way to mount them I came upon an interesting bit of trivia. When medals are worn in the former colonies of Britain they are mounted on a stiff backing so that they will not swing and clink together. The background of that is that Queen Victoria didn't like the sound of the swing mounted medals so medals are now worn tightly fasted to a backing board. I'm not sure if the US military court mounts medals but the Canadian armed forces still mounts medals on a backing board when in dress uniform.

Well Queen Victoria was a buzz kill. Having a bunch of clinking medals on ones chest to draw attention to them would be much more fun.
