Yesterday I polished my fathers hat badge. The soldiers who wore this style of badge must have swore at the designer as the background is pebbled and really tough to polish. The badge I have was used until 1948 when the pebbled background was removed and left open. I'll soon be ready to start remounting the medals.

Hey Plapman .. you might try using Jewelers rouge to finsh polishing your Dad's metals .. it will polish out many small scratches after you get the lacquer off .. there is 6 different compounds of jewelers rouge according to what metal you are polishing .. they range from course to fine ..

U can pick it up on the internet from 10 to 30 dollars (kits).. you might find it at truck stop also... From my experience I would use a medium grit to remove the scratches and then a fine grit to finish polishing ..

I hope this will be helpful !!!

Why am I not surprised you shot at hogs with a BB gun when you was a kid? If you did that now the SPCA would have you locked up! :)

I see the TX girls turned their fans off, but clearly someone else has! Do you know anyone from the Yukon? :)

Good morning Tony, try using a soft toothbrush to clean into those tiny grooves. It works well. Have used such on very ornate silver when cleaning.

How are ya doing this morning. Looks like MUSH is snoozing again...LOL I am thinking about doing the same shortly too. Been awake since 4:30. Getting too old for this catching catnaps all the time. Just once I would like to sleep 7 hours straight through. Oh well, guess it comes with age.

We had a bit of rain last night, so its quite damp and dreary looking out thanks to our friends from the South...LOL

Have a great day dear one. Enjoy your labor of love.
