I got some good news yesterday at the doctors. he said the recent MRI showed the clot in the heart was gone. He's going to refer me back to the stroke specialist to see if I can quit the warfarin but said" With your history I don't think anyone would have the balls to take me off of the rat poison". He's also setting up an appointment for ultrasound of the neck arteries.
The doc is going on vaction starting monday. I asked if he was going north too find a cool place he said he's taking his father to Edmontonton to see the sprint car races. He said he's not a fan of racing but his father likes it and last year he got to drive one and bragged that he got up to 175 km/hr (110mph). I had to tell him I had him beat for maximum speed. When I was young and foolish I drove a 1956 chev Belair up to 145 mph. I was working at highway construction and 1 of my workmates had the car that had been modified with a 327 cu.in. motor and 2 4 barrel carbs as well as a racing cam. We had 4 miles of highway completed but not opened to the public yet and the fellow let me drive his car. We left the starting line side by side with a 426 cu.in. hemi equiped Dodge Charger. This was in the mid 60's when muscle cars had real muscle. Gosh it would be great to be young and stupid and see if I could live through it again.:)

Did you win your race against the Charger? :)

There's plenty of high performance cars today that would run circles around the old cars, but the big difference between now and then is that you could get a big motor relatively cheap in the 60s!

Keep cool!

AH Tony, love it, another speed freak such as I. I have done alot of driving in my day and speed has always been a factor whether traveling up to North Bay, or to Ottawa and other parts on Ontario. Get me on the 401 and I would fly along until I was flashed by some good CB buddy in a truck, then I would slow down. Loved those guys..... The last time I lived here in Chatham, many many years ago before I went into medicine, I ran a car rental agency and we had a couple of calibrated police cars on the fleet that was not purchased by the Toronto police force from Cadillac Livery. Those babies were clocked to go 150 mph. An OPP office buddy of mine wanted to see what the old Fords could do, so we took a late night run on the 401 heading into Windsor. Let's just say, those hydro poles along the road were just shadows zooming by. I fortunately was not driving...he was trained to handle the car way better than I ever could have. Still the adrenlin flow was certainly high....LOL

Still love muscle cars in all their glory but there are not too many of them around anymore. Most are museum quality now days.

Good news regarding the clot in the heart, now to find out where the site is that is throwing plaque causing your strokes.....slow but sure, they will find the culprit. Would not hurt to have a full vascular scan done, on legs, aorta and brachial as well as kidney. Mention that next time you talk to your vascular specialist.

Have a great day dear one.

Well, look at that! Good news, for sure. And I love the story of you and that car. I'd never do that - I just never enjoyed fast cars or roller coasters. Still, I can see the appeal - especially for the young. (I'll not say stupid, even though the word does pass through my mind from time to time when I see such goings on. Road racing through the middle of Houston is a pretty big thing on Saturday nights - not such a good thing with all the traffic. Hundreds of people can show up, and they keep the police busy!)
