I had a close look at some of the accessories my uncle had added to his covered wagon. There,s a couple of barrels, trunks, a rifle, sludge hammer and a shovel. he must have spent some time hand carving the latter 3. They sure are tiny. He even stained the handles of the shovel and sludge hammer and painted the working end silver. The rifle has a metal barrel, probably a coat hanger cut to size painted black, and a stained stock. The barrels and trunks even have metal bands around them. It's a wonder he didn't hollow out the barrels and fill them with water or whiskey. :) looking at the small items brought back memories of visiting him in his shop which always had wood chips on the floor and during the winter a small tin heater with fresh bannock cooking on the lid.

Hi, Tony! I had to go back a few days to catch up! Are you about over the shingles?

I have a cousin that makes metal Civil War figurines with his own handmade molds, paints them in the proper colors, and sells them online and at shows. Very intricate work! I can only marvel, as my hands are not skilled!

I see your temps are closer to normal. I hope you're wearing your "screw-shoes" today!

Take care!

Good morning Tony...What wonderful memories to look back upon. I don't remember too much of what my grandfather did when I was little but I remember dad working away in his shop making all kinds of things as well constantly making repairs to the farm machinery we came to rely on. Dad was good at carving horses and making wagons and little cars for me to play with. You would be surprised what imagination a child has at the tender age of 5 and 6...I guess living around horses at the time helped. So when I hear you tell of your projects, it makes me smile and brings back sweet memories of when I was little. Thank you for that.

Going to be a lazy day for me curled up with the heating pad on my back and a good book. Going to have to start one of my projects soon...been procrastinating too long...

Have a wonderful day dear one.
