From My Basement Window

-----------------------------------------------
Today will start partly cloudy with a 60% chance of flurries early this morning but then clearing latter this morning. The wind will be northwest at 20 km/h (12 mph) gusting to 40 km/h (25 mph) then becoming light this morning. The high for today will be -10C(14F).
Tonight will be clear with the wind becoming southerly ay 30 km/h (19 mph) near midnight. The overnight low will be -15C(5F) but the wind will make it feel like -26c(-15f).
------------------------------------------------- -
I spent a quiet new Years day. One good thing about my meds is that there were no after effects from over indulgence.
The granddaughter, her man and the 2 great granddaughters were over for the evening meal. Once again the Queen bypassed the turkey aand made delicious peper steak, baked potatoes and corn.Yahoo there's just enough left over for my meal tonight as the Queen returns o work. I was going to bake a cake but all the grocery stores were closed so I couldn't get Betty's raw ingredients. It's strange, most stores were open Christmas day on weekend hours. I guess store owners didn't want emplyee's with self inflicted illness greeting customers.
I'm ashamed of my self. I never took Abbey on her hike due to the wind chills. I recently saw a comercial where it said that no self respecting Canadian would put some off due to cold weather. Today I'll bundle up and get her out on the gopher trails to regain my self esteem and prove that I'm truly Canadian.:)
The Queen just rose, it's time for the morning chat and coffee with her. I shall return to say hello to my fellow bloggers.

Happy New Year!
Tell ya what, after growing up in Minnesota and experiencing frozen skin, if the wind chills are low, stay indoors.
If your skin freezes, Abbeys nose may well freeze too.

Good morning Tony. Well this self confessed woose of a Canadian does not go out if the weather is too crappy no matter what. We still have those nasty winds so I am forgoing my jaunt to the mall to see if there is anything worth checking out. Too damn cold and along with the occasional snow squall coming off the lake, this SMART lady is staying where its warm...Perhaps its custom on the Prairie for one to freeze there cajonies proving they are hardy Canadians but this old lady is no fool...ROFLMBO Hope you have yourself a good skidoo suit to keep ya warm and a nice blanket coat for Abbey along with boots to keep her paws warm or she will be doing the frozen toe dance again this year.

Glad to hear New Years was good to all of you. Mine was nicely quiet and for dinner I had chicken chili...Still have some left over for today too with wheat crackers.

Guess I better finish moving the furniture around in the livingroom again and uncovering the heating registers...Burrr going to need it with temps in the 20s today and tomorrow. At least we are not as cold at Ottawa who is in the single digits F. Have a great day dear one, dress warm when going out with Abbey even if its a short walk. Stay well and stay safe.

Subzero windchill readings are nothing to take lightly, whether you are Canadian, or not!

What kind of cake are you going to do next? If I had a vote, I would say applesauce spice!

Hope you and Abbey are able to stay warm today!
