Abbey Has a New Friend and a Quick Fix For a 30 Year Old Problem

Today will bring increasing cloudiness while the wind becomes southerly at 30 km/h (19 mph) this morning. The high for today will be 8C(46F).
Tonight will be cloudy with a 30% chance of showers this evening while the wind remains southerly at 30 km/h (19 mph). Tonight's low will be1C(34F).
================================================= ===
I had another good day and much to my surprise slept from 10 to 6 this morning. Things seem to be returning to normal.
On our walk yesterday Abbey and me met up with a couple walking their St. Bernard. As usual I asked if their dog was friendly and took Abbey for a visit when I received a positive reply. That huge dog sure cowerd Abbey. She stood perfectly still while the big dog did the sniffing introductions Then hid behind me. lol I guess it was my turn to be the protector.
I changed my mind about making another wire holder for the shaving brush as I ad thought of a new way to hold the brush. I epoxied a small rare earth magnet to the base of the brush instead. Those magnets are so pwerful that i think I could pull a loaded semi with one just 6 inches square. I get mine from old hard drives that have either crashed or are so small that they are of no use anymore. While repairing my computers or updating one for the neighbors I've accumulated 10 of them. More of what the Queen calls my packrat/hoarder syndrome.
it works so well that I think I'll do the same with the razor and toothbrush by gluing a small piece of metal to them leaving the magnet available for future use when they have outlived their usefulness. Pack-rat/hoarder. :) I also repaired a toilet in the upstairs washroom that has never flushed properly. It looks like a factory flaw had almost closed the fresh water inlet with porcelain. After 30 years of putting up with leftover floating turds it now flushes properly and all it took was a few taps with a hammer to clear the opening.
if the Queen find out that it only took me 10 minutes to repair the toilet and make the brush holder she'll be looking for a large harness and leash today.
After doing my Dorthy domestic chores I got to do what I'd always accused the Queen of when she was a full time mother and housekeeper. I had a muffin, put my feet up and watched TV. :) It's a good thing it was dark or I'd have been on the streets looking for young ladies to chase. :)

Good Morning Tony!

Wow, aren't you the busy bee handyman these days! You certainly have come up with many innovative ideas to ease and quicken those daily tasks or chores. Thanks for sharing those fascinating economical lessons to be learned in your blog header!

Would you believe that tonight we're bracing ourselves for possibly up to a foot of snow?!!! I think some nearby witch has cast an early wicked wintry spell on our region!! There are still plenty of leaves remaining on the trees. When all is said and done, they're going to look like hands sticking out of mounds of snow. The caption should read, "I GIVE UP!!" LOL!

Hope La Prairie has better luck snow-wise than us, although I don't envy your current temps of 18 degrees. My only prayer is that the snow isn't so wet and heavy that it will produce massive power outages. We've had anough of those to last a lifetime! There's a working generator on standby, but it only works for 5 hrs at a time between oil fill ups. Gonna catch up on my chores and some naptime beforehand to prepare just in case.

Continued good luck to you and the Queen. Hope that the recent elimination of that darned nasty side-effected prescription is all it takes to resume a seizure-free lifestyle again!

Good morning Tony. I see nothing has changed. You are still getting into mischief along with fixing things around the house...LOL Nice that it took 30 yrs to fix the flow in the toilet...ROFLMBO... Sounds like a few projects around here.

I see my new neighbors are moving in today. Looking forward to see if they are dog or cat people...LOL Dogs are fine as long as they are quiet.

Anyway have a great day.

I've got to start watching your webcam more! I'm envious of Ylee, getting to see the kitty-cat. I do see the car gone from time to time, though. That's pretty exciting.

I've used a magnetic strip on the refrigerator for knives for years. I don't even know where it came from, but it's about an inch wide and six inches long, and believe me, when you tuck a knife up there, it isn't going anywhere. I've got a few note clips with magnets on them, too, and they're handy. So many refrigerator magnets just aren't powerful enough for anything, but the ones I've got seem to be made for the purpose. I like them.

I confess - never heard of a rare-earth magnet. So now I have, and I've read a bit about them. That takes care of the educational tidbit for the day!

Have a good one - and keep protecting Abbey!

Good morning again Tony,

Wow you are quite the handyman! Congratulations on fixing your "30 year problem" rofl!!!

I am sure The Queen will be happy when she sees what you did, just don't tell her it only took 10 mins!

You enjoy the rest of your day.

Well, dang. Wish you were our neighbor! Hubby is not particularily Handy Harry around the house.

I like to see folks reduce, reuse, recyle. Nifty way to re-purpose those magnets.

It is wet and a bit on the cool side down here this morning. About 52F. Rain is supposed to clear out around lunchtime. Hope, so as my clothes dryer is one of those ancient versions consisting of poles with wire strung back and forth on them.

Why does it seem like it always rains on wash day? LOL

Hi, Tony! I was surprise to see a cat peeking at your webcam through the basement window this morning. It had a white front with gray over the head and body.

Using rare eath magnets off of hard drives is a good idea for projects. I may have to pop a couple of old ones that are laying around.

I see you have a chilly morning to start the day, but Abbey will appreciate it if you go out for a walk!

Have a great day!
