It was a quiet day yesterday on the prairie but I did get Abbey out on her hunt along the gopher trails. I also added a 4gig ready booster to the Queen's laptop and hardwired her into the network. The hard-wire should judt about double her internet access over the wireless connection she had. The wireless adapter is still availible if she wants to take the laptop to the local library, hich has wireless access availible, to gather genealogy information for her ongoing projet of searching for peoples roots. I've told her she should become a licensed genealogist and charge people for her research. She's getting really good at finding information on the web and documents to authenticate her work. She says that without the documentation her work can be questioned.
I think my next project will be learning to do wood carving with my Dremel tools. I ad an uncle ho did wood caring. He'd cut out the basic shape with a jig saw then finish the details with a pocket knife and sandpaper. The powered rotary tool will speed up the process. I wish he was still alive to give me advice but with my unlimited time and great patience I hope to master the art! My first work will be a horse to pull the covered wagon I inherited from another uncle who ws a great woodworker and built it from scrap lumber.
I'll practice with some 2x6s left over from the washroom project and when I think I'm getting good enough use up some maple I have in the garage from an old headboard. Hopefully with a few carvings the Queen will quit calling me a pack-rat and hoarder. :) I sure love retirment and can't remember where I found the the time to work.

Morning, Tony,

It sure is good to have you back, and I love the idea of your new project. Dremel tools are amazing - the day I discovered them was a good one for me!

I've seen some carvings done with them. It was at a wood show in Fredericksburg, Texas - the pieces were just amazing. One fellow had done a replica of the Texas capitol building - it was amazing. Took him a year, but he said he spent half the time just sitting around being scared he was going to destroy it in the next five minutes. ;)

On my trip north I found the Santa Fe trail, and saw a place on the prairie that still has the ruts from the covered wagons. We think "that time" was so long ago - but it really wasn't.

Back again...good to see you are finding things to do, wood carving would be a wonderful way to show your artistic side. Good for you. Looking forward to seeing some of your finished pieces. Definitely a man of many talents.

Still overcast here and cool. Only 44F at the moment, not going to get much above 50 today if we are lucky.

Have yourself a great day and hopefully you and Abbey can get out for your walks later. Have a great day dear one.

Good morning, Tony! You woodworking with dremels makes me want to do go out and buy one! A great idea! Over the past five years I had been doing woodworking in a shop that I have since lost access to(A long story). With a dremel, I can piddle around with wood on a small scale without taking a lot of room!

Have you ever considered buying of of those miniature lathes to turn ink pens? Those are pretty cool, too!

Have fun!

Oh that sounds fun! I haven't thought of using a Dremmel. Funny, I had found a wood carving set I had picked up somewhere and thought about trying a project to keep busy with.

Only problem is that I have developed occaisional hand/arm twitches that make me drop/toss things. Was worried I'd cut my hand or something.

Now a Dremmel, the worse would be a scratch.
