I got Abbey out for her walk yesterday. The farmer who owns her favorite hunting grounds has cut the long grass for hay. It sure makes it easier for her to spot those gophers. Last year when the field was cut she'd flush mice out from under the swathes. They give her quite a time as they run back under the cover when she come close and she sniffs and digs for them. I walk 2 1/2 miles but she must almost double that on her predatory hunts.
my white ID cane seems to attract people. Yesterday on a shopping trip with the Queen I passed a man on my blind side and he stepped back into me. He stepped back into me and I told him I was sorry thinking I had run into him. He said it was his fault we collided and said I didn't see you. I chuckled and said " I didn't see you either" when I noticed he was looking at my white and red stick. The other shoppers must feel bad when I run into their parked carts and apologise to them. I've learned to live with my vision problems and take minor collisions in stride. The Queen still laughs at me when I start looking for her and she's sitting in plain sight but on my left side. it's a good thing I don't have a drivers licence anymore.

Good morning, Tony! Abbey should have an easier time with catching gophers now the grass is shorter. It'll be much harder for them to get away without being seen.
Looks like another nice morning for your walk! Enjoy your Sunday!

A friend drove into Houston with me yesterday. We were talking about beagles - her son had one for years. He was named Clyde, and he ended up being blind.

She told the story of taking him for a walk one day when her son was out of town. They were going along at a good clip when she heard a KTHUNK! She'd walked the poor door straight into a parked car, which of course he couldn't see because he was blind.

He was ok. She felt awful. But when I read your post I just laughed. At least the Queen isn't walking you into parked cars yet! LOL

Good morning Tony....I see your disability has not deterred your mischievous sense of humor..LOL No I did not break my headboard. Just did not buy one when I moved here. I ended up getting one of those box spring and mattress sets that are high so I have them sitting directly on the floor. Works very well and don't need a bed frame then. No dust bunnies under my bed...LMBO

I am glad you get around as well as you do. With my retinopathy, its harder and harder to see to read or even watch TV. Time to get the old eyes checked again and buy new glasses. Still even with new ones, I won't be able to do the intricate work I use to do...and patience is not a virtue I have these days...LOL

Anyway dear one, have a great day on the Prairies. We are enjoying a nice day of much needed rain here,

Tony I just wonder how many people down here drive with your disability or sight. I will bet there are many who just drive on their old drivers license. This is a horrible place to drive even for those who still have all the driving abilities. We have lots of street racing among the young people. This takes place on the interstates and toll roads where the know the cops aren't. Hope you and the Queen have a nice Sunday. This is a tax free weekend for school supplies and school clothes. Parents are out getting their kids ready for the start of school tomorrow.
