What a difference the repaired hearing aid make, now I only have ringing on 1 side. :)
One the way home from the audiologists I stopped at the local thrift shop and found a case that will work perfectly for the grandfather clock project. I could never make one that looks as good and the price was less than the material would have cost to build my own.
it's amazing what you can find at that shop.
my daughter once found a $200 router there and paid $3 for it. She can plug her usb internet stick into it and have wifi throughout her home.

Today there's a snow squall warning in areas south of Lake Manitoba and Lake Winnipeg. The area south of lake Manitoba includes the Northern Edge which is 12 miles south of Lake Manitoba. These are caused by the cold air picking up moisture from the warmer lakes and dumping it as snow over land. Lake Manitoba is the 13th largest lake in Canada and the 33rd largest in the world.

Abbey and me had 2 walks yesterday, one along the gopher trails and 1 to pick up doggie bags that the city has along a walking path by the railroad tracks. It sure is handy to have the little brown bags available.
While I was working I used to keep one on my desk with an O Henry bar in it. The bar never went missing. :)

Yesterday I tried the netbook again and it fired up for a while then quit again. The cooling vents must be plugged. The youngest at home daughter used to use it laying flat on the bed. I'd told her not to do that but as most of you know teens always know more than we do.
I 'll get a can of air and try and blow clean the vents out today hoping I don't have to take the thing apart to clean it.

A Dead Netbook

By: plapman, 11:45 AM GMT on October 16, 2013

Today will be partly cloudy in the morning, then overcast with a high of 12C(54F). The wind will be from the West at 15 to 25 km/h shifting to the NNW in the afternoon.
Tonight will be overcast with a low of 2C(36F). Winds from the NNW at 10 to 15 km/h.
------------------------------------------
yesterday the netbook died on me again. I booted it up and went online and saw the Yontoo virus which pops up ads. I did a virus scan and the thing quit, must of overheated. Now I can't even get the Bios to come up. After replacing the keyboard the thing now dies. I guess it's time to retire it to the horde.
I may remove the hard drive to use as an external drive or look on EBay for a low priced motherboard.
While having it apart I'll give it a through cleaning.
Personally I think the hard drive option is a better idea.

The Northern Edge Is Opening

By: plapman, 8:56 PM GMT on October 15, 2013

Good day loyal followers.
I'm feeling better now and have learned to ignore the whistling sound in my ears.
The neck problems have improved as I have set my chair a way back so as not to have to look up to see the monitor.
I received a letter today scheduling my appointment for the MRI on November 8.
Meanwhile Abbey and me have been doing our usual walks along the gopher trails on a daily basis.
The Queen has had some problems with the brown beast that blocks your view from the webcam.
When leaving an appointment with the audiologist the car wouldn't start. Just the city decided to move in to clean sewer lines. So there we were blocking 2 trucks and 5 workers until the CAA tow truck showed up. A new battery solved that problem. What a traffic jam we created.
Enjoy your day.
