Yesterday about 4 pm I got a weather warning on my cell. The warning was for frost. Luckily it never happened here but some communities to the north are in the -1to -2 area.
Karma, the Bull Mastiff my daughter owns, came to town yesterday for a city walk. She did really well only pulling and barking at the first couple of vehicles. A few more walks and she'll learn to ignore the traffic and other dogs barking as we pass them.

Me and Abby had a bit of excitement on our walk yesterday. I made a call to 911 to report a small brush fire. It's my guess kids started it. Their always playing in the bushes along the MDC grounds. The fire was extinguished in about 1/2 hour by the fire department.

It seems Abby can't drink from the edge of a pond, she has to get in so that her belly in in the water too. She then comes out and continues the never ending quest for gophers. This makes her one dirty dog as she digs at their door.

Environment Canada has issued a weather statement for my area. It looks like we're in for more rain to start the week.

Special Weather Statement issued for regions of southern Manitoba by Environment Canada at 3:10 am CDT Sunday 24 May 2009.

Special Weather Statement issued for..
City of Winnipeg
Steinbach - St. Adolphe - Dominion City - Vita - Richer
Dugald - Beausejour - Grand Beach
Portage la Prairie - Headingley - Brunkild - Carman
Morden - Winkler - Altona - Emerson - Morris
Whiteshell - Lac Du Bonnet - Pinawa
Sprague - Northwest Angle Provincial Forest
Brandon - Carberry - Treherne
Killarney - Pilot Mound - Manitou
Melita - Boissevain - Turtle Mountain Provincial Park.

A low pressure system will develop over Montana today and track slowly northeastwards tonight and Monday. Southeasterly winds ahead of this system will draw up moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and wrap into this developing system. Due to the slow moving nature of this disturbance significant rainfall can be expected across portions of southern Manitoba on Monday and Monday night.
Computer models are still quite varied on where and how much rain will fall but the consensus indicates widespread rainfall with areas south of the trans Canada Highway into northern North Dakota likely seeing the highest amounts. Steady rainfall will begin Monday morning over western areas and spread across the rest of southern Manitoba during the morning. Amounts of 40 to 70 mm are possible with the highest amounts near the international border. Rain should taper off from west to east early Tuesday morning as this system tracks into northwestern Ontario. This bulletin will be updated and possible rainfall warnings issued later today once this system becomes better organized.

Further details follow in the next regular public forecast
at 5.00 am CDT.
