There will be clearing this afternoon as the wind becomes westerly at 60 km/h (37 mph) gusting to 80 km/h (50 mph) this morning. A high of 1C(34F) with temperature falling to -3C(26F) this afternoon is forecast.
Tonight will see a few clouds and increasing cloudiness overnight. The wind will remain westerly at 30 km/h (19 mph) gusting to 50 km/h (31 mph). An overnight low of -7C(19F) is forecast.

Strong west to northwest winds expected to develop this morning.
An intense disturbance located in southeastern Saskatchewan continues to track rapidly southeastward and will move across southern Manitoba today before lying over northwestern Ontario this evening. The cold front associated with this system is moving across southeastern Saskatchewan and will enter southwestern Manitoba early this morning with strong west to northwest winds developing in its wake. Winds of 60 gusting to 90 km/h are expected as the front passes and last for one or two hours before diminishing into the 40 to 60 km/h range thereafter. Heavy drifting or some blowing snow is also likely as the front passes. The strongest winds are expected to arrive in the Dauphin, Minnedosa, Virden and Melita areas early in the morning, the Brandon and Killarney areas towards noon and the southern Red River Valley including Morden, Winkler and Emerson early this afternoon. Wind will diminish into 30 km/h range in the evening.

Over central portions of the province this same system is expected to bring heavy snowfall. Snowfall associated with the system has already entered west central portions of the province overnight and is expected to spread into the Poplar River area later this morning. Total snowfall accumulations of near 10 cm are expected in the Poplar River area by late evening.

It's Warmer in my Deep Freeze

Abby found a fresh bunny scent Thursday and ventured into the deep snow to find it. I thoght I was going to have to rescue her but her 4X4 drive got her out. I captured her folly with the cell video. Shortly after she got herself out she actually saw the bunny and gave chase along the road and into a driveway. Still no food on her table.

Cold What More Can I Say

Me and Abby got out yesterday dor a good 4 mile walk. It wasn't too bad in the afternoon. She found the scent of a bunny in the deep snow(up to her throat) and was tracking it. I saw the bunny ahead about 50 feet. It was having no problem staying on top of the powdery snow. Abby finnaly gave up and came back to the road all covered in snow.
