There were 2 major accidents in the city yesterday. Both were preventable. A cyclest died after being struck by a semi at a Trans-Canada highway crossing. Alcohol was a factor in his death. The second was in the center of town with a stolen truck, driven by an impaired driver, crossing the median and hitting a car head on. RCMP had been giving chase to the truck on the Trans-Canada but broke off the chase upon entering the city. The 5 passengers in the car, including an 87 yr old lady and a 3 month old baby, are still in the hospital. 2 have been transfered to Winnipeg. The female driver of the stolen truck was treated at the hospital and released to appear in court on Monday. In my opinion she should be waiting in a cell for her court appearance.
