Another comfortable day on the prairie

Tonight the cloudy periods will persist with 30 percent chance of showers. The winds will increase to southeast 30 km/h overnight. An overnight low of 15 (59f) is expected.
Buck the dog is in deep trouble with the Queen of the Prairie. She had a McCain frozen coconut creme pie thawing on the table yesterday. We went and did a bit of shopping and when we returned all that was left of the pie was the tinfoil. lol It will be a while before she forgives him.

It looks like a comfortable day

We went to the daughters for a BBQ yesterday. She sure cooks a great steak! The new home is complete now with the addition of a deck and some grass seed. She just needs some favorable weather for the grass to catch.

It's finally cleared and is expected to stay that way for the Canada Day long weekend. The temps are expected to rise as the holiday approaches. The city has numerous events planned on the Island Park for the weekend as well as the annual fireworks show. It should be a good time.

We had another thundershower last night. I woke at 4 am with the sound of thunder and rain. By the time I got up at 6:30 the sun was peeking thru but the streets had lots of puddles.

A wet and dark Monday

There is a risk of a severe thunderstorm late this afternoon. The wind shifting to the northeast at 20 km/h late this afternoon. A high of 22 (72f0 forecast.Even with the clouds and rain the Uv index will be 8 or very high.
Tonght the showers will continue along with the risk of a severe thunderstorm. Another 10 to 15 mm of rain is expected as the wind becomes light. An overnight low of 15 is predicted.
Yesterdays high was 25 (77f) and the overnight low was 17.4 (63).
It's been raining most of the night with the odd thunderstorm. One really load crack woke me at 3 am and another at 5. I opted to leave the queen afoot this morning and took a vehicle to work.

More thundertorms last night

Today will be cloudy with a 30% chance of showers early this morning. The risk of thunderstorm continues.It will clearing later this morning with the wind becoming northerly at 20 km/h late this afternoon. A high of 26 (79f) is forecast.
Tonight will be clear but it will cloud over near midnight with showers with the risk of thunderstorms. Precipation of 10 mm is expected with light winds. An overnight low of 16 (61f) is expected.
The humidity is still very high (98%) giving the current humidex temp of 30.
It was quite here in Portage last nite with only minor thunderstorm activity. More tornadoes were sighted in the western part of the province with property damage occuring on farms and at a first nation reserve. It was nothing like the previous evening with the F-4 twister pasing thru Elie.
The grandson is having a birthday party today. He is 5 and starts kindergarden this fall.

A warm humid day on the prairie

Today will be sunny with cloudy periods. A high of 30 (86f) is forecast.
Tonught will have cloudy periods and a 60% chance of showers or thunderstorms. The southerly flow at 20 km/h will become light near midnight. An overnight low of 16 (61f) is expected.
It was quite a night last night. Thunderstorms and tornado warnings dominated the local area. The small vilage of Elie, 20 miles east of Portage was hit by a tornadoe. It destroyed 3 homes, a grain eleveator and uprooted trees. Wit todays high and the humid weather more of the same can be expected tonight.

The village of Elie, 20 miles east of my home was struck by a tornado. 3 homes were destroyed as well as other property damage. I have not heard of any injuiies as a result of the tornado.
There have been reports of tornadoes touching briefly in my home town, but no reports of damage or injuiries.

Thunderstorms and Tornadoes

There have been at least 2 separate tornado sightings within 40 miles of my home tonight. The weather warnings have been on and off all evening. We experianced 1 thunderstorm here. It doesn't look like its over yet withanother 30 degree day tomorrow.

A great day for the first day of summer

Todaywill be sunny with cloudy periods. It's funny how the weather people cover both bases on the amount of sun and clouds for a day.The high expected is 25 (77f). Time to bring out the sunscreen with a Uv index of 8 or very high.
Tonight will be clear with an overnight low of 12 (54f).
I had to buy a new lawn mower last night. I made 2 trips around the lawn and there was a small bang and the mower quit. A quick check revealed a hole in the crankcase. The rod must have broken. I've never had that happen before with a mower.

Yesterdays beside my house temps were 21.4 (70.5f) and an overnight low of 10 (50f).
Buck the dog got wet on our strut yesterday. We had a couple of showers during the hour we were out with sunshine between. I luckily had the raincoat and stayed dry. I'm sure that dog needed the shower more than me anyway.

Another fairly nice day in store

I spent fathers day in ther garage. It was annual spring cleaning time. I do that when I can barely walk through the place. It took me 5 hours to get back into shape where I could park a vehicle in it if need be.

A cool , damp Sunday

Yesterdays beside my home high was 28.3 (83f) and the overnight low was 14.2 (58f). It was a great day with lots of sunshine and no showers.
The grass on our walking path is getting pretty long. Poor Buck the dog can't find gophers or bunnies in grass up to his shoulders. It also makes a great hiding place for ticks. I removed 2 from him yesterday.

I missed yesterdays post and the lady Alley sent to visit. I guess she got bored waitng and went to see Al in NS.
There were a trio of moose roaming the city for the last few days. The resources officers finally herded them out out the city with the help of the RCMP who closed the Trans-Canada highway to let the moose cross. Deer show up often in the city but a moose visit is a rare occurance.

The daughter snaped a pic of the sky at her place in Lakeland. It looks like a funnel is formimg in the clouds.

We had a short thunderstorm early this morning which woke me and left the streets wet for the walk to work this morning.
Yesterday never reached the predicted high of 31 only climbing to 27.6. It turned out to be a very nice day.

We had a severe thunderstorm and tornado warning again yesterday. Luckily nothing came of it in my area except a small shower.
I got wet yesteday while walking buck the dog. We were about a mile and a half from home when the light rain came. I was thinking about calling the Queen of the Prairie for a ride but walked it out instead.

It was pretty wet on my walk with Buck last evening. I put on the slickers and he shook rain from himself. When we got home he was pushing a footstool around with his head. I guess the water was running down his forehead and tickling him. lol

It was a pleasant walk to work this morning with the sun shining and a temp of around 7. Tommorows forecast tells a different story with rain starting in the afternoon. The rain will continue till Friday.
Buck the dog wore himself out again last night with a bunny chase. This time he picked a big jackrabbit. He never stood a chance. The bunny would stop and stand on his hind legs tawnting the poor dog. Buck cmae back panting and ready to head for home

It got pretty warm yesterday with a high of 29. I put off walking Buck the dog until just about dark. It's a good thing there was a bit of wind.
I got the pump to water grass set up yesterday after a minor rebuild. We're lucky here as the water table is around 12 feet in sand. That makes it pretty simple to put in a well for grass watering and outside use. It sure saves on the water bill.

I missed the air show yesterday but did catch a few overhead flights. At about 4:30 they must have had a big bird in the air. You could hear the jet roaring in the house.
I did manage to drive past the pool, but it was full of kids with not too many mom's in view.
The grass got cut and the little yellow flowers sprayed, probably too late in the season.

Yesterday afternoon turned out really nice. There was some sunshine and the temp got up to the high teens. Buck the dog enjoyed his strut but never found any gophers. They must be all trying to dry thier basements.
