Buck the dog scored another kill yesterday. That gopher won't be teasing Buck again. Buck saw a rabbit and was ready to give chase but correctly decided to let this one go. It had a 1/4 mile head start. lol

Mild days

Not much in the forecast today. It will be sunny with cloudy periods and a high of 18 (64f). It's just about time to bring out the sunscreen with a Uv index 5 or moderate. Tonight a few clouds will linger with a low of -1 (30f).
A bit of excitement in the walk to work this morning. An old house was being torn down. It sure doesn't take a large backhoe long to demolish a house. They just start at the roof and pull down. The house had a fire last fall and wasn't worth the cost to repair I guess.

Buck the dog made a trip to the vet to get his medication adjusted. She upped the dosage as he's been slipping back a bit. When we get it right the gophers better beware. lol
He hates that place. I guess it's the smell and nothing nice has ever happened there. Kinda like a trip to the dentist.

Buck the dog caught a huge rat in a field yesterday. I had a heck of a time getting it away from him. I guess I'll have to add another badge beside to 2 gopher badges to his hunter-killer vest.

Buck the dog and me have reached an understanding on who owns the bed issue. When I'm in it he sleeps comfortably on the floor next to me. When I leave he's up on it and curled up next to the queen. lol Smart dog figured that arrangement out himself.

We went to the daughters yesterday for Easter dinner. A nice family affair with another daughter and cousin present.
Great food and good time.
Buck the dog had a gopher trapped under a storage container on our strut yesterday. I sure had a hard time getting him to come home with me. He usally comes quickly when I hold up his collar for the leash. I guess prairie dogs are more interesting than walking.

Everyone have a good Easter day.
I shortened Bucks walk yesterday and be was a bit more livly in the evening. He was after the prairie dogs again. I think they tease him, just popping up in front of there burrow then diving for cover when he sees them lol.
I saw some gulls on our strut. Spring must be coming even if it's at a slow pace. There were also Canada Geese on the Crescent Lake shore. It will be a while till they can swim there.

The Spring session of the Manitoba legislature opens today. Maybe all the hot air eminating from there will bring an end to this cold snap.

Buck the dog is being spoiled by the wife. I returned from work yesterday and he wasn't there to greet me. I find him curled up on our bed. It's been a fight since he was big enough to get up there to keep him off the bed. He finally learned to stay off. The wife calls him up now lol. It's going to be hard to break him of that when he has the queens approval.

There is no provincial update today on the Assiniboine River. In times of small spring runoffs like this year once the ice breakup has passed the reservoir flows usally slowly increase then drop off.
Buck my walking buddy is a sick puppy. He has developed a disease where protein is lost from the intestine instead of being absorbed. The body tries to produce more protein from existing muscle tissue. It also causes a fluid build up in the abdominal cavity. I guess the problem cannot be cured but is managable. Hopefully the vet can get it under control.
