Sad Day in Charleston, SC
Posted by: palmettobug53, 9:43 AM GMT on June 19, 2007 +0
Charleston is mourning the loss of possibly as many as 9 of her firefighters in a deadly fire at a Sofa Superstore last night. Two firefighters were injured and one store employee was also taken to the hospital.

Information is still sketchy this morning, as the fire still smoulders.

Please pray for these families.

I can smell that awful smell of damp, smouldering ashes in the air outside.

Hey bug, I think that fund you listed is the same as one that is with Bank of America. Can donate at any BoA as far as I understand it.l..

Yeah, SJ, that's what they said on the news. Bank of America. I also saw another bank mentioned on the news, that has a fund but I don't remember which one, now.

I can't imagine what the firefighter community is feeling right now. It's such a close comradeship. Even the city and county police. They work together so much.

Well, it's been a long and emotional day. I'm going to close this blog with the chorus of one of my favorite songs, by The Carter Family:

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by
There's a better home a-waiting
In the sky, Lord, in the sky

I know what you mean. My father worked for the town and he use to take me with him when he would go to fires. It was amazing to see even white collar folks like himself jumping in and doing what he could for the FD and PD. I remember watching men run in and out of those house and remember my dad telling me stories about some of the worst fires he had seen including paint stores and what not. Anywho, enough of that. Thanks to all that serve us! FD, PD, military, nurses, and all the others I have not listed!
