He was told it was it would be so much money for so many words. The farmer told the stonemason what he wanted and the stonemason added up the words. He told him he was three words short of his total allowance, so asked him is he wanted to say anything else, like "Rest in Peace"?
The farmer scratched his head for a moment and then said to the stonemason, "Aye, add on the bottom ..... Tractor for Sale"!!
lol
Oh, those ever practical Yorkshire farmers!
I do need a fresh thread. Maybe it's time for a cemetery blog again. I'll have to think on it a bit. Unless some other inspiration hits me.

I know we still need it but why can't it be a little more conveniently spread out; say, one night a week. Preferably Saturday night, after 10:00 p.m. and ending around 6:00 or 6:30 a.m. Sunday?
Remember, I'm watching Season 1.
Season 2 starts for us next month.
When you get to see series 2 you will find it is more gritty, covering lots of medical pitfalls and changes in the late 50's :-)
Easy Potato Ham Bake:
Leftover ham, cubed - maybe 2 cups?
About 8 small russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
A little bit of onion, chopped. 1/2 cup, maybe?
1 can cream of mushroom soup - I suppose you could use cream of chicken, celery, potato or broccoli. Broccoli would probably be good.
Lightly grease large casserole dish with butter. All of the ingredients, stir a bit, a few dashes of salt and pepper.
Pop into 350 degree oven until done. 45 min to an hour?
I just eyeballed the ingredients and am estimating cooking time. This was an experiment and I wasn't really using a 'recipe.' I had left over Christmas ham in the freezer that needed to be used. I've one pack left!
Who'd a thunk OB would wind up at the State Dept? or the White House grounds.
I wonder if she managed to sneak off around the corner to check out the First Lady's veggie garden? lol
I bet she got into all kids of trouble...LOL
Time for me to shut down. I missed last week's episode of Walking Dead and they're going to repeat it before the new episode at 9:00.
I'll have to catch tonight's episode of Shameless Wed night.
Everything I like to watch all comes on at 9:00 on sunday night. the rest of the week is like a desert on TV.
Enjoy!
You've been visiting Lincoln.
and
The Potomac River
I'll send you the photos in an email so you can send them out to your family :)
Aubie got the other one from the State Dept!
Things remain fairly busy these days, Emily at University, finishes her first year late April, Rob preparing to graduate, and get BERNICE on the road. Never a dull moment it seems.
Two brothers heading your way later this week, they are watching the storm coming from the west to decide to go sooner rather than later. One thing is certain the golf clubs have already been stowed for the trip.
Have a good week.
ROB
Travels with Other Bug continue. The girls at work got a good laugh out of it.
Karen, I've already sent some to my aunt. All I did was copy/paste the pics from my blog comments to my gmail and send.
Still, go ahead and send them. I'm going to create a folder in Gmail for all the OB pics I can find. A lot of them were posted in different blogs before one was set up for OB.
Shore deleted the "Hunu" blog from the Lousisiana trip some time back. It was there for a good while but I looked recently and it was gone.
Typical Monday here. Really busy, as we get three days worth of work from over the weekend. Work downloads daily, weekends or no.
Beth, don't you wish we could travel as easily as she does?
Rob, the golfers might want to wait until this rain passes through. I think it's going to make driving south a bit tricky.
She is certainly a well travelled lady! :-)
I am trying to catch up on a few visits. Thank you so much for leaving those nice messages on my blog even when I could not get back to you.
While typing this I am listening to the Arias trial, good grief, what a manipulator. I think that she and the killer of the Anthony child should share a jail cell!
I hope that your day is going well.
On another note.. from the long ago past... like 2007, Hey darling, you recall the ticket the cop gave me in the doors of the ER when I was rushing to be with my dying family member... my uncle?
I am pretty sure I recall the name of the policeman correctly.. and if I am right.. that guy not longer has a job. He has been removed..
Just goes to show you... things do have a way of working out
Happy Tuesday - hope it is going OK:)
Only one more day of chainsaws and shredders, I believe, then they will have gone.... like the trees!
They're doing three shows from Myrtle Beach, SC, that they filmed last summer.
I found out that the host, Mark Walberg, is an old SC boy! Born and raised in Florence, SC, a graduate of Florence High School and attended Francis Marion College, before heading to California to enter showbiz. He started off as a runner for Dick Clark's company and said that it's where he got his training for being a host.
His mom still lives in Columbia, SC. Both of them were there last Monday for the pledge drive during Part 1 of the Myrtle Beach shows.
His mom said he was a handful, as a kid. It appears he still is, as he was doing weird stuff behind his mom as she was being interviewed! lol
Sandi, you might go ahead and send them my way. I know you delete prior entries and that's were I'm planning on doing most of my looking. There and in her host's photos.
Pros, I'm so glad to see you back online.
Yes, we'll have to get OB to address all our concerns, while she's in the nation's capital!
Patti, I remember that. Yep. What goes around, comes around. It might take longer than you'd like but it happens.
Thank you, Sandi. Karen has also sent the ones she had.
I'm waiting for Phoebe's eggs to hatch. It should be
any day now, I think. I believe they said there's a 17 day incubation period. She laid the first egg the weekend I was up visiting Dad. That was two weekends ago.
It looks like the webcam just winked out; they're running a slide show. Wonder why?
I was going to get online last night but Hubby was home (and off today) so I did the unusual and fixed supper. By the time I had the kitchen cleaned up, it was time for a special on PBS I wanted to watch.
I've learned that I don't blog and watch TV together well. Esp with PBS; there's no commercials.
I'd spent some time in my outtie mail last night, trying to do some catch up. I managed to get some of it cleared out and answer a few family emails that had been sitting in there since earlier in the week. By the time I got over here, though, I was feeling a bit upset in the tum, for some reason. I decided to go on to bed.
Feel fine today.
We've got some cold weather coming in from that Artic dip in the jet stream. It looks like I'll be covering my plants Sunday night.
I read your entry to your dad...hang in there girl, only one day left this week!
I do hope that your work load gets less during the month of March - I know you would't want to be sitting twiddling your fingers, but a little less pressure wouldn't come amiss, would it!
It is Friday, calloo-callay! I'm out the door and on my way - it cooled down here pretty good last night, but it's up to 53 now. That's good enough for me. I'm hoping for a productive day, myself.
WE HAVE A BABY! YAY. Only one of Phoebe's eggs has hatched. So far. Maybe before the day is out.
It's not much to look at yet. A little purple-ish blob in the bottom of the nest.
I'm eating lunch a little early. We had some download problems yesterday. I stepped off to the side to work on something else, until we get the all clear that everything is back to normal.
I'll really be glad to clock out this afternoon!
Shore, yes, I did sleep in late. I've been doing that on weekends a lot more than I usually do, this past couple of months. I guess work is really tiring me out more than I realize.
I'm not sure what caused the upset tum the other night. It was just not sitting well. I've had no further troubles in that respect.
But it is Green Blizzard time here in the Lowcountry and my allergies are kicking in. I noticed a green sheen on the truck almost two weeks ago and replenished my stash of Zyertec. I started taking it last week, trying to stay ahead of the symptoms. Nevertheless, I have had a headache the past few days.
I have face masks on hand, in case I want to potter in the yard for extended periods. The yard really needs some pottering in, too. It's such a shame that the pollen season kicks in just as I want to get outside.
I've got clothes in the wash. I really should take them over to the laundromat and dry them, so they won't pick up pollen on the line. Dragging everything over there for the next month or so is just too much trouble. I'll take my Zyertec, wear my masks, limit my time outdoors and take my chances.
I also keep plenty of saline nose spray on hand and used it frequently to flush the pollen away.
What fun.
"Goldfinch greeting' from VA
Phoebe has one egg hatched. I'm hoping the other baby will arrive sometime today.
Hi Prose,
What a beautiful finch, I think I saw/heard a wave of them go by but none stopped to say hello here.
Bug--I love that hummingbird camera. oh my gosh! Last season I was addicted to eagle cams in Richmond and Norfolk and there was sadness. So happy to see that green-sheened beauty through your link Thank you.
P. S. Happy New Years: 2013, Snake & March
I did a bit of laundry this morning but threw it all in the dryer. It was a bit toomuch of a cool breeze for me out there.
Sam is growing by leaps and bounds
he loves his fuzzy little ball. He'll play with until he tires of it then hides it for later.
take care
I can't get the webcam to come up either. The last chat entry was 6:29 (7:41 here now) so even accounting for the time difference one way or the other, it looks like a server is down or something.
Sandi's got a note on her blog about the spam emails her account sent. In case you haven't figured that out and got a weird email from her, the explanation's there.
It's sunny and beautiful here, although we hit 35 this morning. It's going to warm up fast, though, and be lovely. Time to take my car over for a really good wash and an inside detail. Heaven knows she needs it!
When I went to the meat market yesterday, they had lovely sirloin on sale, so I picked up two nice pieces. I'm going to make beef burgundy with one piece, and freeze it for the next time I decide to have someone over for dinner. Then, I think I'll do a nice beef stew with the rest. It makes the meat go farther, and we're just about out of stew season. I need to do some of those winter dishes I love before we're into the warmth again and I start thinking pasta primavera and chicken salad!
You may have seen the pic of one of our cedar trees popping its pollen over at my place. I posted it for poor ycd, who's suffering some pollen woes himself. Makes me sneeze just to look at it. It won't be long before our pine trees start, too. That's the worst.
Have a good day - hope you had some pollen-free laundry!
Shore, love the tree photo. Great job.
Good morning Bug.
It looks like the sun is back out again. It clouded over and the temps really dipped yesterday afternoon/evening.
I'm thinking of making a run to Walmart today. Get gas, some groceries and, maybe, refill a scrip. I need to check my meds. I've a nagging feeling that something is running low or the scrip is about to run out and I need to refill it before the expiration date arrives.
HURI! Good to see you, girl. And happy 2013, Snake and March to you, too.
Janet, there are times when I wish I had a place to put a dryer. There is a hookup in the kitchen but it would block off half my lower cabinet space. I don't have much of that, as it is. And no place to 'park' a portable dryer. I think I'd still prefer line drying. You can put it all out, as it comes out of the wash. In warm weather or with a good breeze, it dries fast. Plus, it saves on the electric bill!
Pros, I had a bit of trouble last night but it seems fine, now. I've got it up on another tab but Phoebe is sitting on the nest. I can't see if the other egg has hatched or not. All the chat is about everyone getting their coffee and getting ready to watch.
Shore, I have igoogle as my home page and Sandi's warning email was at the top of the list in my gmail box. I am going to have to check out some of the suggestions on Karen's blog, since igoogle is going away in Nov.
Good job on the beef! That's a very smart idea to fix beef burgundy to freeze for a special dinner and to make some beef stew. I know what you mean about fixing a few of those winter time meals before the warmer weather turns your taste buds towards summer foods.
That picture of the cedar tree made me sneeze. Good gosh, that's a lot of pollen coming off that thing!
One good thing: I'm in the habit of hanging most of freshly washed clothes inside, on hangers or on those folding racks to dry, anyway. Most of what goes out on the line is Hubby's work clothes, the whites, sheets, towels, bath mats, throw rugs etc. I'll be hanging the pillow cases inside for a few weeks.
Pros, go back and check Phoebe again. I just looked and the other egg hasn't hatched yet. She was feeding the first chick.
Take care!
Yep, it's Green Blizzard time here. I noticed a light green sheen on the truck a good three weeks ago. It's heavier, now.
I need a spacesuit helmet!
I am happy to say Max does most of his own laundry now that he is retired. So maybe that is something else to look forward to for you & yours. I only use my dryer when its rainy or cold, otherwise it outside. I really like the real freah air smell when it comes in especially on the bed linens. I have not found a dryer sheet or rinse that duplicates that.
Take care
I read below that you also use iGoogle for your start/home page. I trust you personalize it too?? Well, so far ighome is the closest I've found. It's similar and still uses all the Google tools. Lots of widgets to choose from to personalize your page.
If you come across anything else you like, please let me know. I've looked at Netvibes, Chromes home page, protopage, as well as Yahoo. IGoogle is still the best. I so wish they wouldn't t drop it!
