The Daily Bug

Saturday Afternoon at the Westerns

Hubby can sit in his recliner all day long on Saturdays, watching his Westerns. He watches them all but his favorite is Gunsmoke starring James Arness as U.S. Marshall Matt Dillon.

I've watched my share of them over the years, as well.

When I noticed this morning that AMC was going to 'premier' reruns of Rawhide this afternoon, I started trying to remember all the other Westerns that we've watched.

P.S. It's been fun today watching a very young (and handsome) Clint Eastwood. I had such a crush on him back then! I still like him, for that matter, though more as an actor and director, than a heart throb!

Lemme see.... OK, here we go:

Wagon Train, with Ward Bond and Robert Horton.

The Rifleman, starring Chuck Connors.

Have Gun - Will Travel, with Richard Boone.

The Rebel, with Nick Adams.

Bat Masterson, with Gene Barry.

Death Valley Days, an anthology series.

Wanted: Dead or Alive, starring Steve McQueen.

Bonanza, starring Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker and Michael Landon.

The High Chaparral, starring Leif Erickson and Cameron Mitchell.

The Big Valley, starring Barbara Stanwyck.

I know I've left out a bunch. There's a couple that I can picture the characters in my mind but I can't remember the name of the series. I'm sure someone here will fill in the blanks!

------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------

And they have.

As Janet said, "How could you possibly forget Maverick, starring James Garner? Or The Virginian, starring James Drury and Doug McClure?

Both Janet and Hubby jogged my memory with The Lone Ranger, starring Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels.

That made me think of The Roy Rogers Show, though I'm not sure if I'm remembering the show or the movie reruns.

Hubby did remember several others. The man is a TV trivia whiz.

The Lawman, starring John Russell and Peter Brown.

The Cisco Kid, starring Duncan Renaldo.

Law of the Plainsman, starring Michael Ansara.

Hopalong Cassidy, starring William Boyd.

Wild, Wild West, starring Robert Conrad and Ross Martin.

Cheyenne, starring Clint Walker.

Cimarron Strip, starring Stuart Whitman.

So, without further ado, let's head 'em up and move 'em out!
