The Bookworm Blog

We've discussed books and authors, here and there, over the last few months. Most recently over at PeaceRiver's Pennypincher blog.

I thought it might be nice to gather all the bibliophiles in one spot for a few days. Let's talk about what we like to read. Who are your favorite authors? Maybe you've found yourself in a rut lately, and someone here may be able to steer you to an author you haven't tried yet. I'm always on the lookout for someone new to read!
Note: I'm not limiting this blog to fiction; we can discuss non-fiction, children's books, whatever....

The Insomnia Blog : I'm sooooo tired..........
Posted by: palmettobug53, 2:52 PM GMT on June 17, 2006 +0

I'm so tired
The Beatles

I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink
I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink
I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink
No,no,no.

I'm so tired I don't know what to do
I'm so tired my mind is set on you
I wonder should I call you but I know what you would do

You'd say I'm putting you on
But it's no joke, it's doing me harm
You know I can't sleep, I can't stop my brain
You know it's three weeks, I'm going insane
You know I'd give you everything I've got
for a little peace of mind

I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset
Although I'm so tired I'll have another cigarette
And curse Sir Walter Raleigh
He was such a stupid git.

You'd say I'm putting you on
But it's no joke, it's doing me harm
You know I can't sleep, I can't stop my brain
You know it's three weeks, I'm going insane
You know I'd give you everything I've got
for a little peace of mind
I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind
I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind
(mumbling)

Well, Finn....you wanted an insomnia blog, so here it is.

I don't usually have a problem nodding off. I'm pretty much gone within a few minutes of hitting the hay and stay gone until the alarm goes off or the bed falls, whichever comes first. But once in a while, those gears will start up in my brain and I just can't get them to stop. So what do you do? Count sheep? Watch TV? Drink chamomile tea?

Fill us in with your favorite tricks for getting a good night's snooze!

Sands of Iwo Jima

A lot of the movies produced during the years of WWII were geared towards spreading Allied propaganda or lifting the morale on the home front. All of them were supremely patriotic. Few of them were very factual. No matter. We loved them all, anyway. For the next few days, lets talk about our favorite WWII movies. Was it John Wayne in "Sands of Iwo Jima"? Or was it Greer Garson in "Mrs. Miniver"? The all star casts of "The Longest Day" and "A Bridge Too Far"?
