Nooooooo! They were supposed to open our new Adelaide Oval development earlier in the year but Jaggers girlfriend died so they cancelled but promised to come back and here they are! They've been here about a week or more which has caused a stir!

Cranberry Orange Relish:

1 bag of cranberries (can't remember if it's 12 ounces or a pound)
1 orange
Sugar to taste (about a cup but that might be too sweet for some people)

Chop cranberries & orange together in food processor, add sugar, chill.

(We used to use one of those hand grinders where you put the food in the top, turn the handle which is attached to a large corkscrew like part, & it pushes the food out through holes in a round plate on the side.)

Another thing we like is pumpkin dip. Don't have the recipe handy, but it's just canned pumpkin, cream cheese, brown sugar & cinnamon. A great dip for sliced apples or thin ginger cookies.

Weather has cooled a bit today (28) 82? lots of scrub fires yesterday but nothing too major!

Hi Ylee Yep swamp coolers.....our heat is so dry MOST of the time but that's why we also have refrigerative for the days when it is humid. This heat has hit early so our evap system is waiting to be turned back on, service man coming on Monday hopefully! Mom and pups doing well hope to get some photos later!

Hi WW It is simple believe me son was never a great cook, he worked for Pizza Hut as a teenager though and does make a pretty mean pizza these days!

You have evaporative coolers in your house(we call them swamp coolers here)? They don't work here in Ky., it's too humid in the summer!

Hope mom and pups are still doing well!

Hi Oz, Sounds like some easy cooking going on here. The green bean casserole is a pretty safe bet. I like the one your son makes - sounds simple and had never heard of that one.

Hope the fans are keeping you comfortable today! Have a wonderful day!

How are the puppies? Need a photo update!

No reports of fires yet, change still to come through, very strange day very hot but cloudy, dry thunderstorms forecast for later! We have aircon (evaporative and refrigerative) but sometimes just the fan is enough. If you sit on our couch when the refrig. is on you freeze!!LOL This is record breaking heat for October for us over consecutive days, looks like a long hot summer!

Got my fingers crossed the fires don't come your way!

Hope it cools down for you - I hate sleeping when it is too hot. It sounds from what you say, you have fans and not aircon, as we have?

Not that I have any idea about Thanksgiving.... but how about a big, glazed (Yorkshire) ham instead of the turkey?
I glaze mine with a mixture of mustard and lime marmalade...oh, and it is cooked in a bottle of white wine with a few cloves before baking!

Thank you GG sounds like my sons only dish he can cook, a can of tuna, tin of cream of mushroom or chicken soup, mix, cheese on top and then sprinkle with crushed crisps (potato chips)! Back in the day when money was short it was a quick easy meal for four and his children love it now when Daddy "cooks"!

Good Morning, thanks for visiting my blog. Oh Thanks Giving meals. They are so fun. A classic here is very simple and on the table of most blue collar homes for Turkey Day is green bean cassarole. Basically, two cans green beans drained., a can of cream of mushroom soup and some people bake it all together with these salty crispy onion things on top.

Thanks for the photo and the picture Pros!
Sandi, yes they all behaved, both grandchildren had a hungry day and it was non stop "I'm hungry" but other than that great fun. Puppies are growing and starting to get up and wobble around!
WW all seems good today but next fitness session is tomorrow so that's when I will know!

Ok Guys I need some help, we are doing Thanksgiving again for our friends and I need some suggestions for the menu! I have done turkey a couple of times but does anyone have favourite recipes for savoury and/or sweet treats that I can try???????

Too many WU Bloggers falling - lets all try to be as careful as possible. I know - nobody ever plans to fall - it happens in a split second and if there is a break it can really set you back and clip your freedom for life. My sister broke her hip several years ago and gets so frustrated because she can't get back to normal. So sorry both of you fell and a hurt finger on top of that for Sandi!

Good morning

Adorable puppies!

The look of Autumn in Virginia:

J. Keats

CCLV. Ode to Autumn

SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease;
For Summer has o'erbrimm'd their clammy cells.

Came back to add another comment to my blog and found my replies I did the other night had not appeared!!!!!!! Try again
Hi Sandi. The little collars are not my finest needlework but it serves its purpose. I have to keep making bigger ones every few days and eventually the ribbon gets wider and they look more like collars! The sausages taste great but apart from the Cumberland sausage the others split their casings when P tries to string them, so we have to rethink what we did. I have just made some sausage rolls with some of the sausage meat and they look good!

Hi WW They have indeed grown and again now! I will try and post a photo a week so you can see how they progress. They have been very good so far.

Hi Ylee She is eating me out of house and home, her favourite is sardines so she is getting plenty of oils and her coat looks fantastic! She is starting to get bored with being in the box with them so we are letting her come out and spend time with us.

Hi Barefoot We just love spaniels we have had a field trial cocker spaniel and English springer and now of course the Welsh. Geddy is delightful he is very much my favourite and Clancy is my husbands, Geddy has such a zest for life, everything is an adventure and he goes at it hell for leather which is a bit scary but he is starting to calm down a bit now!!!!

Sorry there were complications. All's well now, and that is what's important.
Thanks for posting your puppy pictures, I will be back to watch them grow.

And isn't Geddy just the perfect pup?

Hi Guys, sorry been a bit distracted over the last week, puppies are all fine and growing rapidly they have all doubled their birth weight and are starting to move around and their noses are beginning to turn black. They are climbing into a big heap instead of climbing on Mum so she is able to come out of the whelping box a little! Worming and start weaning next a very messy time!

Hi Sandi Yes they have kept me busy and we had the grandchildren on Saturday, Jax's face was a picture when he realised there were puppies in the box! We also has some friends drop in who want one of the puppies and they have gone away VERY excited!

Hi Ylee Thanks, no she will not have another litter, I never intended to use her again but our vet recommended no more anyway. She looks fantastic at the moment though, she has got her figure back and her coat is in glorious condition, mind you she is eating five meals a day!

Hi CalThank you yes they are all going along fine!

Hi Jus Yes she is Jorja with a J, her pedigree name is Redhedz Arianrhod Star named after our granddaughter and the Jorja............well I was a great fan of CSI at the time she was born! This is the first AI we have done and the first c section all a big learning curve!

Hi WWThank you it is great fun watching them but very time wasting so I hope this week to get on with a few more things! We took Geddy and Clancy for a walk yesterday as I have had no time for them this last week. We had only just started the walk when I spotted a brown snake but it slithered off onto the nearby railway tracks!

Ohhhh! So happy for you that everything was a success. Must have been such nerve wracking decisions there! Glad you are an experienced owner and you have such a great vet relationship! This is just such exciting news! They look absolutely beautiful! Way to go Ozgalah and of course Georgia? Is it? (I think it is spelled differently but give the gal a huge hug from us here in Chicagoland :) Hoping all is still well and take care.

We have puppies!!! Only 5 (3 girls, 2 boys) all perfectly formed, Mum and babies doing well. After a visit to the vet yesterday morning the decision was made to perform a c section as the vet felt there was a large puppy causing problems and he was right. I have never had to do this before and it was not a decision taken lightly but now I am glad we did as Dave (our vet) struggled to extract the big puppy and said there was no way it would have been born without help. As it is a long weekend here they had minimal staff on duty so I was chief rubber and drier, getting the puppies stimulated and breathing with gusto, nice to have the opportunity to be involved but a bit nerve wracking! Anyway all are currently sound asleep and I even got a couple of hours!!!! Photos later!

Hooray managed to get it right this time!
This was a small archway leading to the dog run, it is now a mass of flowers! There is a banksia rose, jasmine, orange trumpet vine and an Albertine rose all growing together but now the weight has almost closed the walkway!!!!! We have to cut it back and build a MUCH stronger frame sometime soon.

Wow, what a glorious selection of fruit and veg. You can see, just by looking at the citrus fruit, why you would have more luck with solar panels than I would! All I have in my garden are apples and pears! Lol

Well done to the boys.

BTW- how would you use kohlrabi ? I had one in my veg box last week and I gave it to my neighbour! Lol
