Well, as anyone can see I have not made much effort to keep up on this blog. I have always been a journal-er, love writing by hand, and I have stubbornly resisted computer journaling, now known as blogging. It seems silly to resist something when I spend so much time on the damn thing anyway!
So I'll give it another go...even if no one else is reading it...it's out there.
I spent yesterday running errands, submitting the paperwork to reduce my property taxes (refund check on the way in a week or so) because I am so poor, and the same at the P.U.D. where I will be getting a 30% cut in rates for my electricity. While looking at the assessor's computer page I could see that the value of my home and property has been reduced again per the recent re-assessment...although she said it isn't finalized yet. My current page shows my lot alone valued at $30K...a really inflated value thanks to the NRPI sales. On the assessor's page in the office it is back down to $15K....much closer to the actual value. I think I saw the house is worth about $96,600.
So, while I own more than it is valued...it's not that much more....and it is more than when I bought it for $76K!
After leaving the mundane chores, I stopped at the Farmer's Mkt and bought 3 stems of peonies...deep, blood red...$2 ea...and a real bargain for their beauty....my reward for finally getting my butt in gear.
Finally I got home in plenty of time to get Maggie and me out to the beach for a romp for her and a walk/beachcombing session for me. I found 6 agates, small but two really red ones, and a nice chunk of petrified wood.
We were driven off the beach by an incoming squall with rain and wind...not pleasant, but warm.
