Austin, TX continues with very high temps. Most days we are above 100º. According to the weather forecasters there’s no relief in sight. I’m just happy it’s usually a dry heat. I’m told this is the way summers are here but that the high temps started a bit early. This too shall pass eventually.
In the meantime, I thought I’d share some pix my son took recently. He is stationed at Ft. Riley, KS and the Army sent him to Ft. Irwin, CA for some special pre-deployment training. He took lots more pix but I don't feel comfortable uploading them as they were during their training. It’s really weird to see your “baby” in full battle gear, hmmmm, not so sure I like it, however, I am proud of him.
The first time we ever saw dust devils we knew immediately what they were. We were driving across Arizona to California. I still think they are neat looking.

One of the benefits of living in Texas is the Rodeo. Now I love the one in Mesquite, it’s indoors and nice and cool but I enjoy the outdoor ones too. I even enjoy the smell of manure! It reminds me of my childhood in upstate New York. The little town I grew up in was surrounded by cornfields and of course they were fertilized with cow manure. That smell takes me back, phew!We have attended this rodeo in Wimberley before and it doesn’t disappoint. Last nigh...

It’s a HEAT WAVE!!! And I have cabin fever! I once tried to explain to Northerners that Floridians (probably all southern dwelling folks) get cabin fever in the summer – they didn’t get it. I tried to compare it to the cabin fever I had experienced during the bitter cold Northern winters, I don’t think quite understood it still. I’m so glad that every cooler day here this spring, found me outside enjoying walks with my pup because we are now pretty muc...

I am under the assumption that many folks on here are in the medical field so I thought I’d pass this little gem on to you. If you get the Showtime Channel, check out “Nurse Jackie”. I’ve only seen the pilot and one episode and let me tell ya, it’s GREAT! While I realize that “NJ” isn’t a true story, it sure does have elements of truth to it. It’s only a half hour show and I’m disappointed when the time is up so quickly. It shocks, surprises...

Today marks the one year anniversary of Bob’s almost fatal motorcycle accident. As bad as it was, I’m grateful that it wasn’t any worse. He’s come a long way with his recovery since then but his injuries are severe enough that he most likely won’t regain total range of motion with his left arm/shoulder. He continues to battle pain and was told he’d have good days/weeks/months and bad ones also. That whole time was a total nightmare and I can’t wait...
