The Black Gun
Posted by: mobal, 2:02 AM GMT on March 11, 2009 +0
Are “Black Guns” evil?

Yes I mean what are referred to as Assault Rifles.

Officially Semi auto over .22 and an 11+ magazine.

IMO, not at all, though the person behind the trigger may be.

Can’t wait for ((Amys)) answer on this one……

What say you?

Guns are inanimate objects and therefore not evil. Now you want to talk about the people holding the gun?

Mobal you think this might be in bad taste considering what just happened??? (in alabama?)

But for the question no, guns are part of an implicit and explicit trust we must place on all citizens of this country.

Buying them with explicit intent to harm others is wrong I think - for contingency = OK.

JF, to be honest, I just had to ask my wife about that. I did not know. bad timeing and in NO WAY does this have anything to do with that! Just the oppisite IMO.

Ok, I think most people who know me on here know how I feel...guns don't kill people...people kill people....ok, it's a tired ass saying, but it's true!

I want to be able to protect me and mine....scum bag psychopaths are going to get their f-ing hands on their weapons of choice no matter what laws you pass....I'll take any background check you want...hell, I'll even pee in a cup if that's what it takes....but give me what I am entitled to as a US citizen who is a non-felon.....

Amy, I think there are certain things we should need to do to own a firearm, peeing in a cup IS NOT ONE OF THEM!

Not being a Felon is. I dont like the idea of having to regiter guns, nor pay a federal tax. Though I will because its not worth the fight on that front. I used to think the Black Gun was bad until I was in Mexico (No Guns) and saw the results of the crimianals having the guns recently.

O.K., for those who care, here is my worthless military opinion. As some have said, weapons are only as dangerous as those who use (or misuse) them. If a killer doesn´t have a gun, they will use something else. Should we ban knives next? Guns make it easier, yes, but it will not stop a determined killer if one is not available. England has a complete ban on guns but there are still murders........

I personally will be carrying an M-4 assault rifle and 9 mm handgun when I go to Iraq next week. I received proper training on the use of said weapons. In the hands of the wrong people these are very deadly but that does not condone banning them for everyone. Proper training and screenings are a must.

BTW, the proper term for "clip" is "magazine". Just a little terminology.

The M-14 is Excellent for Drill and Not too shabby at 300 yards in the prone.

But the Colt M-16A1 is the preferred Mechanism for defending Democracy in my personal view..

Yes, and it comes with a laser sight. But I must say I actually score better with the old fashion post site.

Thanks everyone for your concerns. I will be in touch as there are good Internet connections in Baghdad where I will be. I leave next Tuesday but am home this week. Just spent a month in NJ training with the Army.

I've already pi$$ed enough off tonight, may as well add you to the list mobal. Thing is, we're real friends and you understand where I come from.
I FULLY support Amy, airman, and Pat's thoughts. Come between me and my 9mm (no Calvin's here)? Trouble awaits you! I'm passive until pushed beyond limits. My Dad taught me as a young girl the value of, and safety of guns. He also said to never show it unless I intend to use it. Some lessons learned never leave our minds.

My son is in Mosul and talk to him three or four times a week on the internet.

Time difference is more of a problem than access.

I'll tell you the same thing I tell him...eyes open head down.

Come home safe!

mobal,

I, like many have mixed feelings about this subject..guns for hunting for food is one thing..people carrying guns for other reasons is where I have a problem..while people have a right to protect their homes, property and family(ies), I sometimes feel that many lives would be spared if guns were not so readily available..so, how do you stop them?
..and maybe it is me but now it seems that more people with gun permits are going on these rampages..what do you do to stop them?
I know of young people who collect guns and have them at their homes..why does a 22 year old need an AK-47, and multiple other types of assault rifles?
God didn't create man so that another man could kill him..human life is a gift, it is fragile and is to be noutured - not destroyed..

I am not a gun lover, knife lover, etc...I hate violence in any shape, fashion or form..it needs to be removed from our movies, tv, music and any other form of public viewing.

o.k..no more jalapeno peppers for me - looks like they released more than my endorphins tonight!..lol

BTW, did I tell you that I hate vulgar language too?..ROFLMBO!

Scott/Airman,
when my nephew was over there for 6 months, actually I heard from him more on the internet and email.. than I do when he is stateside! Yes, internet makes these deployments a lot less worrisome for everyone than even just a few years ago. But we will still be waiting to hear from you as often as you can!

The Internet is the most Wonderful invention we every received, when it is not abused...
