My thoughts

Well it looks like gas prices will keep on rising, this is good if you have stock in oil……
I was watching CSPAN the other day; members of our not so smart Govt asked the oil Executives why they don’t put more money into alternative fuel research? I was surprised that none said “Because I am in the oil Business, We sell oil”

Think about it, a mason that lays brick will not pitch a wood framed house….just my thoughts….

Not an accurate discernment at all.
;-)

Two, out of many come to mind.
Chevron just opened a new bio-diesel plant, and Shell Oil is leading the research into algae based bio-fuel.

Look at all the BP commercials.

BayWay, Good Hope, etc are one of the main reasons the food prices have sky rocketed. They are buying farm land and converting it to corn for bio-fuel.

Think about it, where are you going to have to buy bio-fuel?

Truth is, if we would get off this hysterical panic for bio-fuel, take it slower, petroleum prices would be a lot lower and petroleum is still cleaner.

One of the biggest pushers for bio-fuel is George Soros. He is funding as many of the radical eco groups to push bio-fuel as he can.
George Soros is responsible for the fastest destruction of the rain forest in history. Soros is buying up as much of it as he can, clearing it, to profit from bio-fuel.

I paid $1.89 for a 2-liter of Coke, which is basically colored water and sugar.

We need to boycott Coca Cola!!

GG, yesterday, I bought a shake at Hardee's. I was shocked - it was small(16 oz or less), not made well...and $3.09!

Good morning Mobal!

I don't know... I really don't like the big oil companies making so much money off the backs of American's but on the other hand ALL of Corporate America thinks if they don't keep on making even larger profit margins each year they will go out of business. or actually the Board of Directors will fire the CEO.

Our CEO (who once again is in the top 10 CEO's in the world) just doubled his salary from the year before, from 26 million in 2006 to 53 million in 2007..but all you hear from him and his "boys" is how bad the last 4 weeks of 2007 were for the business so money is "tight" again...and of course, we can barely give our employees that get good or better performance appraisals a 3% raise... employees who are just "satisfactory" that is they do the job they are paid to do...some don't even get a raise.... let me see,... CEO gets double his previous earnings raise (26M to 53M) and some of my employees couldn't get a $1,000 raise for the entire year....which amounts to about $19 more a week and after taxes less than that..

Our company thinks employees who don't like their salary can leave and they can always send the rest of the US jobs over to India or Asia... over half of them are there now anyway.
Lower overhead and lower salary and benefits over there...and more of those folks have higher educations and several college degrees than our USA kids who are applying for those entry level jobs.

I don't think Government should continue to regulate businesses I think the market should do something about it...but when it comes to comodiaties that we need to live it is a hard choice.

I think we should plan for long term ways to get off of using so much oil, but in short term, go ahead and drill where we need to drill and do it in a clean and environmentally friends way. We do need to stop buying oil from foreign countries. We need to become self sufficient in this area. We need more refineries and we need to invest in other sources of energy also. I don't really think using food products like corn or sugar cane is the answer.

I hope you are enjoying your Saturday!

Lat, I for one think Bio Fuel is a stupid alternative, and it is raising all of our prices. Milk, meat and many other products have risen because of corn prices. The Bio Plants to me are just a result of stupid policy set by public opinion and will get worse with stupid govt’ policies.

Gator, Bottled water cost as much and sometimes more then gas.....

Gamma, good post!

Well it looks like gas prices will keep on rising, this is good if you have stock in oil……

...

Not only does that say it all ,it is also the key to the solution..
The best way to stop outragous prices is to take the stock market out of it..OPEC uses fear and wars and rumors of wars to commit market terrorism. Investors buy and sell on FEAR and they raise the prices based on pure speculation(Ie.Hurricane season we are all going to die, quick raise the price drive up the price per barrel we will all get rich off others demise..talk about wishcasters ouch!)

So the best way to control the price is not allow OIL FUTURES to be BID on..

Then the goverment could go one step farther and cut their tax on gas to the end user and encourage state and local government to follow suite by making Federal tax cuts for states and municpalities elsewhere...

You dont need gold everyday to survive and drive to work. Oil you do..Gold is a luxery and oil a Necessity to me thats the difference...Driving the price up on gold will do far less to the workong joe than driving up the price of oil ....the working joe dont buy near as much gold as gas:) his values are not luxery just a decent life...

I agree with Rocket..

Another thing.. I am a bookkeeper who works for a manufacturing business.. When our cost of materials increase, our prices go up. That I understand! We end up making around the same or a little more on our tax returns. Enough to make good money anyway. BUT NOT A RECORD PROFIT. That's what I don't understand with the oil companies.. Well, not that I don't understand, I actually do... BUT not in a good way, lol.. It's a seller's market. Like rocket said, we MUST have oil and they know it.

Just some food for thought!

Is anyone paying any attention to the price of steel?it has gone up far more than gas ...in just a few months...these good ol boys around here are selling junk cars for right at 11.00 a hundred pounds....this same time a year ago you was lucky to get 1.50 a hundred...what this translates to is any old junk car or truck is worth 350-500 bucks each nowdays(not counting the Catalytic converter ,which will bring 100-200.00...so who is gonna end up paying for this in the end?
