WEDS., MARCH 31, 2010
THE RAIN HAS FINALLY CEASED AND WE'RE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING OVERCAST 46 DEGREE WEATHER!! YEAH! IT SEEMS THAT OUR WEATHER FORECAST WILL BE PICKING UP THROUGH THIS WEEKEND WITH THE RETURN OF SUNNY SKIES AND TEMPS REACHING NEAR 80 F IN SPOTS!!! IF ONLY WE COULD GET THIS TO STICK AROUND TILL FALL!
HERE'S A LINK TO MOST OF THE MASSACHUSETTS RIVERS AND STREAMS EXPECTING TO EXCEED FLOOD STAGE SOMETIME TONIGHT OR EARLY AM TOMORROW! Link
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED, HERE'S ANOTHER LINK PROVIDED BY WBZ.COM FOR THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF RAINFALL THAT OCCURRED IN MASS, RI AND NH. SURPISINGLY, THEY LEFT OUT CT. SO. KINGSTON, RI (WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STATE) IS THE HIGHEST WITH 9.97" OR RAINFALL!
President Obama signed off on diaster relief for those Mass. residents affected by the previous end of February Nor'Easter. I believe he'll do the same for this one as well. I realize how frustrating it must be to wait and deal with the beauracracy of it all.
WESTERN ESSEX COUNTY, MA
The Spicket River in Methuen is once again predicted to exceed flood stage by one foot 2:00 am Thursday, April 1st. Not a great April Fools Day Joke! I really feel for my neighbors who own an establishment downtown that's right adjacent to it!! They had to remodel after the great flood of 2006 and now this!!

1917 - 3-02-10
Former Top Boston Meteorologist, Don Kent, has passed away today at the age of 92. He joined a top local radio station in 1951 and moved to TV in 1955 to become Boston's
first TV weatherman. I grew up watching him on television and loved his demeanor, reassurance and delivery.
I will never forget in the late 70's when a malfunction in the mechanical maps they used then, caused one of the most famous recorded on-air bloopers of all time. The maps kept closing in and out uncontrollably. Don never waivered throughout his broadcast, taking his trusty pointer and tried to catch an area on the map as it went by. The anchormen were literally crying, heads down on the anchor desk, from laughing so hard. In his own self-deprecating way, Don stated in the end that it probably would make the station's Christmas blooper reel. This reel actually made it onto a nationally broadcast blooper show in recent years, and it still made me fall down laughing.
A wonderful moment in history.
Today, I feel like Boston has lost an old family member and/or wonderful friend in spite of the fact that he officially retired in 1983. Nevertheless, he had a good life and continued to follow his craft and charitable work well into retirement years. May he RIP. -- Mass.

Lyrics to "THE ROSE"
Some say love it is a river
that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razer
that leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love it is a hunger
an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower
and you it's only seed
It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live
When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winterfar beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed
that with the sun's love
in the spring
becomes the rose
WHERE LOVE BEGINS
