(at sundown, 27 years ago, I felt the first twinges of labor pains and did double the chores because I didn't know if they would get done the next day. it was cold with a thick smokey fog from the pine plantations burning and an inversion keeping it all on the ground. you could barely see the road. didn't even know that we were crossing SR19 until we saw the blinking light above us.. there was no traffic. my son was born 10 minutes after we got to the hospital.)
