07:30, 26F, clear. frickin' cold.. roosters up. crows calling. took dogs for a walk. fed them. coffee, ham and rice for breakfast.
08:40, 34F, sunny. lamb bottles heating up. outside dogs o.k. they slept right out in the yard last night. they've got thick coats. hope this cold puts a dent in the flea population. dead mouse on the kitchen rug. thanks to the jack russell. she may be old (17, and blind) but she can still get a mouse if it runs by her nose. even a blind hog will find an acorn sometimes.
11:00, low tide at CK. 49F, NW wind, 10 knts. ducks dabbling in the shallows. pelicans on an oyster bar. sunny.
fed starving cat. sewing new netting on to dip-net frames. wader decisions. great horned owl setting in old osprey nest. ospreys moved back to the pine at the turn-off. understand there was a fracus between owls and ospreys and owls won.. mockingbird spends a lot of time in the yaupon holly hedge.
15:10, medium tide rising at #4 bridge. 57F. north wind 2 knts. ducks in channel. herons in spartina. heading to cowtown for gas and dog food. bob cat crossing road. scrub jay flies out of the scrub to snag an insect on the shoulder.
17:00, 52F, partly cloudy, partly sunny. no good hay at feedstore. drove by and looked just in case. dog food's gone up. groceries inside. got 1 egg. chicken livers for dinner.
19:50, 49F, clear. waxing 0.55 moon up there. stars. lost some tennder plants in last night's freeze. drat. I'd had them inside for awhile then put them out during the warm weather..
mustard is bolting. good night.
