05:20, 49F, fog. waning gibbous moon up above. stars. dixie and bruiser at back door. pups running around in the dark. woke roosters up. lamb bottle warming up.
08:00, big radiant sun-dog in a bank of clouds north of the rising sun. change of weather?
08:50, low tide falling at suwannee. 61F, NE wind, 5 knts. no-see-ums at boat ramp. chilly on the river but lovely. cypress deep rust color. purple asters still blooming. bald eagles on oyster bar at mcgriff channel. oystercatchers and seagulls all along the bars. partly cloudy, partly sunny. waning half moon pale in the west. water temps - ~18C, 65F, chilly in the thin waders. low catches on the whole except when we passed through a school of pigfish with some pinfish mixed in. several hundred of them.. otherwise, species count and fish numbers were low probably due to substrate, ie. bare sand or shell, and/or low temps. 1 small flounder, and 2 YOY mangrove snapper (in river) were only species of note. big alligator sunning himself on a mud bank. several different types of ducks flying offshore - a lot of small flocks and several larger ones. too far away for identification. one loon on our fartherest out trawl who flew off rather than dived. wind clocked to west, 3 knts., in early noon, 71F, and we all shed one of several shirts. water flat with a distinctive horizon. patches of fog close in to land.
14:40, 77F at the farm. let dogs out. fed lambs who were waiting. mother avoiding them less often now. all 3 still locked up.
17:10, 68F, got 1 egg. mellow afternoon with soft light. pileated woodpecker in donkey woodlot.
19:00, 62F, a fog. fuzzy stars. guard dog back in house sleeping in kitchen with pup and the jack russell. yellow dogs barking.
