13:00, 72F. blow-out tide at CK. egrets, spoonbills, herons perusing the tidal pools. white pelicans relaxing on the shell bars east of #3 bridge.
at 06:30, it was 48F at back door of the farm house. built the 2nd fire of the season in the fireplace last night. cat sat in my lap. pup on the couch. we all fell asleep.
2 deer in cactus field at dawn. sheep searching their woodlot for acorns. not a big acorn season this year. only a few trees really putting them out. waning gibbous moon high in the sky with jupiter close-by.
bald eagles are back. passed a mature pair circling a road-kill armadillo yesterday on the way to work.
still no connection to the internet at home. the modem seems to be in disrepair. oh well.. helps me to get to bed earlier ...

59F at farm this a.m.
trawled offshore CK on tuesday. beautiful day. 1-2 ft. seas. caught a lesser electric ray. no one wanted to measure it. after we got it measured, no one wanted to throw it overboard. finally managed that with only one brave soul being shocked. it was a large female that was not friendly.
trawled offshore econfina wednesday. overcast, 50-60F, NE wind, 10-12 knts. choppy with a lot of spray. not expecting this the crew all wore shorts and tee-shirts. even with our foul weather jackets on it was cold and we suffered through 12 trawls. never got what we were looking for, no gag grouper or hogfish. very few snapper. but we did bring in a half dozen very large and beautiful flounder that got identified, measured, and returned to the salt.
still not able to get on the internet from the farm.
gardening this week-end. greens and carrots!

14:40, high tide rising at CK. 77F, overcast and pouring. ENE wind, 4 knts.
mowed sandspurs at the farm on saturday. it was hot and sunny and that was a thankless job. still have more to do. BIG indigo snake in hay barn saturday evening. pup went bananas! guardian just watched to see where it was going. after folding back on itself and looking pup in the eye (pup backed off) that beautiful snake disappeared into a hole in the barn siding... was glad to see it!
front coming through right now. hoping for some cooler weather this evening. temperature this morning at the farm was 74F. muggy and overcast. put sheep's hay in barn since it was so dreary. figured it might rain. drizzling when I left at 10:00.

14:50, high tide at CK. 81F (heat index = 85), SW wind, 4-6 knts. white pelicans looking for a dry place to perch out by #3 bridge. some on a dock. others grumbling in the tide. partly cloudy, partly sunny.
water temperature tuesday(1st) and wednesday (2nd) fallen to 24-25C, 75-77F, chilly at first but easy to get used to.. sampled the fish populations north and south of suwannee river. caught everything from snook to flounder in small quantities. got 3 small jacks that are waiting to be identified beyond the family. tides were heavy but bycatch was low, making for easier pulling of the seines.
don't seem to be able to get on the internet from the home computer so can't log on this site, or see radar or anything. so - call if the karen heads my way!
new moon rising soon!
