07:30, 59F, foggy. sun's up. yellow dogs at back door. nice walk with all the pups. lamb bottle heating. roosters yelling.
11:00, 78F. clear and sunny. poppy's daughter had a little ram lamb this morning. cute little pie-bald young'un. poppy's daughter is the 6th generation from an original ewe, brown-face. she is 1/8th suffolk, and is spotted. that's how I kept track of the lineage. she has almost all of the cracker sheep characteristics, except is woolier.
worked in my pitiful garden, weeding, fertilizing. squirrels got in and dug up some of the plants and then an armadillo got in - dug under the chicken wire - and rooted through it so I only have some mixed lettuce, some collards, onions, and garlic chives left. replanted some greens in pots in hopes of being able to keep them pest free. bummed out that the armadillo dug up all the carrots. the donkeys are even more bummed than I am. the tangerine tree produced about a dozen fruits this year which was thrilling since all the other citrus had nothing at all. just had one and it was excellent.
