A cold frontal boundary will extend across the northern tier of Mexico on Tuesday. As this system interacts with warm, muggy air over the Gulf of Mexico, strong showers and thunderstorms will develop over the northeastern corner of the country. Matamoros will experience afternoon and evening thunderstorms with a high of 83(F)/ 28(C). A trough of low pressure will linger over southern Mexico, bringing a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms to the central and southern Mexico. Mexico City can expect evening thunderstorms with a high of 81(F)/ 27(C), while Oaxaca will experience similar conditions with a high of 85(F)/ 29(C). Northwest Mexico will stay mostly sunny throughout the day. To the south, a low pressure system will develop over the eastern Pacific, just west of Costa Rica and Nicaragua This system will usher scattered showers over several Central American countries, including Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. In South America, a warm, muggy air mass will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to a handful of countries, including Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru on Tuesday. Heavy rain will be possible along eastern facing mountain slopes across the northern Andes. Strong thunderstorms associated with a trough of low pressure will develop over southeast Bolivia, Paraguay and southern Brazil. A wave of low pressure will continue to move across southern Chile and southern Argentina, bringing gusty winds and heavy precipitation to parts of the southern Andes. .
