Long day...they made it and it was a very smooth trip! Yay. Success. (19 hours? I think, but they went to Ft. Collins to see a friend first).
Anyhooo, NEw, I am seeing more chatter about that storm now. Still pretty far out there in time though. But no one can afford to take chances. If it doesn't happen, great! But if it does, uh oh...:(
Still cleaning and such. I'll check back before I hit the hay for any more evidence in the models.
Have a good night all!
Actually, this will be pretty interesting.
It seems Boomer's new official REGISTERED name is now Stella Blue's Boomer (see #2 for pic of da Boomer).
Ok. Alrighty then. So, my confession is: that when my goof ball (amazingly interesting ;) son named him, and picked his 'Kennel' name, I had no idea what my son was talking about and just went ahead with the name on the application.
KK. Well, I am happy to now say that Boomer's papers have come and he is officially an American Bulldog of the Greatful Dead.
What can ya say? Kewl. Now he just needs to work on his cult following.
(I am going to post this. It is THE first time I have ever even heard this song. I know. I'm sorry. I led a very sheltered life until I had kids, lol)
For Boomer--(Not one title on that three generation pedigree ;) OY we truly need to believe in this boy and go for it. There's always a first)
Night all ships. Keep that ghost storm away from the East Coast with all our might! Turn the fans!
a href="" target="_blank">Link
...It's dark and we're wearin sunglasses. Hit it!
No, the dogs did not go. This was just a very good pic before they left. WG posted that she was gonna miss these guys, awe...
Models still over the place with what our nor'easter is going to do.Should have a pretty good idea by the weekend. In fact winds start to pick up on Sunday way before the storm moves north.Strong high pressure over the maritimes, low to the south, means strong winds.
Guess what my mad cat is 'officially' called - Adixillo Bender Blue. See why we call him Blue, lol
Happy Wednesday to you:-)
Wonder if your kids know the theme to "Rawhide"! :))
Hi NEw, just left you a post and it's good to see the storm trending more East! Whew...we'll keep our fingers crossed for seven days though.
Sandi, that is one very cool name for a cat! And it is very appropriate for Mr. Blue, too I think. My lil kitty was attacked again outside. We were working in the yard a lot on Sunday and she kept waiting by the door to zoom out. Then she did it again on Tuesday (my fault) and I had to go to work. I was gone 3 hours and she came in injured. I rushed her to the vet and she had another course of antibiotics for a cat bite. Rough neighborhood! So, now we will only go in and out the garage door and through the landing of the back screen porch, so if she is waiting, she can't get all the way out. :( She is doing much better after two days though.
Need to visit you to see what's up across the pond. Take care!
Ozgalah, 21 options! and ha haaaa the one which sticks is the one your hubby didn't want, lol. That IS fate for you. Redhedz is such a great name.
Oz I am terrible at training. I need lessons like 3 times a week. Poor Boomer is so confused. I am saying 'watch' me for our lesson this week, and he is laying down. He seemed to have the 'down' command learned very well last week, and now he doesn't really know what it means again and is doing it for everything except sit. UGH but he is still going through the puppy thing. He'll be 10 mos on the 22nd.
Hope your dau arrives safely! Have fun :)
Ylee, why Rawhide? lol? Maybe my brain is fried...it's been a long week. Are you traveling for Thanksgiving? Hope you will have a few days/nights off. I'll stop in to say hi soon. Hold down the fort til I get back.
Did anyone see Chicago Fire last night? One of the characters kept saying he wanted to move away from the city up to 'Chain O Lakes' LOLOL!!! (this is where I live, but it's not a town, it's an area, usually called The Chain) But, since it's a National Show it was too funny! It cracked me up each time he said it :) Our friend works on all the pyrotechnics for the show. It is going great and what a wonderful job they are doing making it realistic. They work very closely with consultants from the Fire Dept., too.
Ramble, ramble Back to work for me. Stay warm all. Actually, it's very calm mild weather here in Chiland today, and expected to be a mild and warmer weekend, too :)
My guys have all howled about 4am for the last two days not good with visitors due on Monday, usually means one of the girls is coming into season....... oh joy.......puppies for Christmas, no puppies for Christmas uuuuum!
Wife loves Chicago fire,I haven't been able to get into it.Never cared about fire movies or shows, but thats me.
HICAGO -- A far west suburban firefighter and paramedic who was found dead in her home died as a result of an attack by one of her own dogs, the Kane County sheriff’s office said Wednesday.
Dawn Brown, 44, of the 400 block of Jefferson Street in Big Rock, was found dead by her husband at the bottom of the stairs in her home Monday afternoon. The paramedics who responded were her co-workers.
Ozgalah, Teenage boy is right! LOL. I do think I need hand signals because I use the wrong commands out of habit of just having them raised by me in the house. The real commands aren't the same as what I use, but close and all jumbled. 'Wait' means something completely different here. It means wait for me to exit the door before they bolt. Or 'wait' for me to go down the stairs first. Not quite.
Ohhh Howling boys... Of course you have to have something rather exciting happening all at once at the holidays! Ohh, I forgot to run a google search on Boomer's lineage. Thanks for reminding me.
Wings tonight! No cooking required :)
P.S.add: 60 degrees? Thanksgiving? Wow!!! I'll take it, but how strange is that for Chicago???
Any good man knows "wait" means stay there until I call you - no matter how long it takes. lol Females may not see it the same way.
Heard this song on the car radio yesterday and thought of road music. I may be crazy...
You may be right.
Have a good weekend.
Just like when a woman you don't have to get me anything for Christmas, she better find some things under the tree on Christmas morning.
Thats a whole subject I try to impart to guys who have just got married.
I give them this I printed off the web,and I tell them you better study this very carefully.
What Women Really Mean, When They Say
(1) Fine:
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes:
If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing:
This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in “Fine.”
4) Go Ahead:
This is a dare, not permission. Don’t Do It!
5) Loud Sigh:
This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That’s Okay:
This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks:
A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you’re welcome. (I want to add in a clause here – This is true, unless she says ‘Thanks a lot’ – that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say ‘you’re welcome’ . that will bring on a ‘whatever’).
(8) Whatever:
Is a woman’s way of saying F–YOU!
(9) Don’t worry about it, I got it:
Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking ‘What’s wrong?’ For the woman’s response refer to # 3.
Isn't that a line from The Blues Brothers? Ergo, "Rawhide"!
Enjoy your day!
On our way home from milwaukee. Quite a fog building along hwy 94. Must be incedible fog by the lake. It's getting thick as pea soup in S.E. Wisconsin and N. Illinois.
I hate driving in fog in the dark ... it is bad enough in the day time.
Just a brief greeting with a photo collage from my last painting, and a quote from a poem:
Hail to thee, blithe spirit!
Bird thou never wert,
That from Heaven, or near it,
Pourest thy full heart
In profuse strains of unpremeditated art.
Percy Bysshe Shelley
To a Skylark.
Well, it was an incredibly busy weekend with getting everything ready for Thanksgiving.
Watched Ken Burns, The Dust Bowl (twice--watching it again) and it was really good, but sad at some points and brought tears to my eyes. Tomorrow is the second half. Hope it's not too busy and I can catch that, too.
Son comes home from Colorado tomorrow. Looks like the weather will be good for his flight.
Forecast for Thanksgiving looks like we'll have no horse drawn sleighs carrying folk over the river and through the woods...lol
It is forecast to be 61 degrees!
First glimpse of snow looks like it may be a week from Wednesday (Nov. 28th) when the pattern shifts to cold like all the models are showing.
Well, yup. That's about all. Pretty quiet, sorry...
Hmmmm should post a picture or a song to liven this place up a tad...
Oh ok...here's one from last night my son's girlfriend took of the dogs. It's hysterical!
(Create your own caption, lol)
Goodnight All Ships! Stay warm and safe!
It actually affected me here in McHenry County on the border of IL/WI today, too. Truly thought it was from burning leaves in the area. Shocked about this actually because it seems an odd time of the year for this(?) to me...

You are up late....
Love the photos of the "puppies" ... You can really see the difference in size in those photos!
Have a happy week, if a busy one. Is the gathering at your house again? I remember how many folk you had last year.... My house isn't big enough to hold more than ten! lol
Sneaux for next week? Wonder if it will make it to Ky.?
So our Patriots had a big wind against the new rookie "luck",but he didn't do so well.Welcome to the NFL Andrew luck, little different playing the upper 5 as opposed to some of the lower standing teams.
Your team plays tonight.
This is a new situation for me Ylee. I hope you don't have to breathe that air in your work environment without a mask! That's just common sense! (oh, duh...I guess we do what we have to do for work (see above, lol)
I'm still trying to figure out whether to go to the doctor for this breathing thing. It's really not that bad, even on bad days, but I DO notice a change. Hmmmm
Thanx again NEw and Ylee. NEw...I didn't know that.
Sandi, I was up a little late and researching a little. Between you and I, I am furious because I keep getting non-answers to who will be here for Thanksgiving. At this point I'm about ready to make reservations for my husband and I, and everyone else can go jump in the turkey coop!
Add: oops a tad hostile...Gawd help me to maintain a smile for the holidays no matter who may 'pop' in for dinner...I'll buy a 20 lb turkey and 'wing it' lololol! Hubby's family will be coming on the weekend from Michigan and we'll have another Turkey Day with them, as well.
Hopefully you get some answers to your question...... and soon!!!
(Although a quiet dinner out somewhere with hubby sounds really pleasant! lol )
Ugh!!!1
NEw, I was smart and watched The Dust Bowl. (Sort of similar names as the Bears did eat their dust - ouch!) Might be a good idea next time to use a quarterback who actually is registered in the NFL??? Just a tip.
My breathing problems have now manifested themselves as a chest cold. Wow. That's why I felt funny. (don't say like a clown?) And, no I don't smoke.
It is another beautiful day here in Chicagoland. Paybacks are gonna be a beech!
Off to the races.
Add: Oh Campbell wasn't the guy they brought up from last year who didn't play. Sorry. I guess the whole team played badly and not just Campbell, in all fairness. As I said, I didn't watch ;)
Earthquake. Way too far away from me to be felt, but in the state nonetheless.

Where I work, you learn when not to breathe... :)
Could be worse, jus! You could be like me, and be a Chiefs fan, lol!
@Skilling:
Fog cud mean ill-timed delays during this busy travel period at area airports. We're hoping incrg winds opens holes in the overcast Wed PM.
NWS Chicago/Romeoville Dense Fog Warning has been extended into later tomorrow morning. Check WU's warnings page for details.
Night all!
Happy Thanksgiving if I don't make it back! Working tomorrow and listing a 6 flat in the city. Then, Turkey Day! Gobble Gobble! Loved all your recipes...(see we DO lurk and appreciate your hard work putting those up on the blogs. It's as if you will be at our table ;)
For a goodnight shot:
Benny (Dau's kitteh in Oklahoma) is gearing up for the colder weather coming for Dec. lol What a cutie!
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving, full of love and laughter.
Love the picture of the kitty with the hat!

For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Surprised at all the dense fog advisories out your way.Well Cold front should sweep all the stuff out.
Thinking of you on this Special day. Blessings to you and your family.
Hope yours was wonderful.
And, to all who stopped in earlier in the week, I hope you all had a very nice Thanksgiving, as well! Thank you for all of your beautiful graphics.
And, now back to the weather. Colder here, but mild and pleasant. We finally planted about 75 new bulbs for Spring. It actually has been too warm to plant new bulbs, and some iris even started coming back up with last weeks sunshine! So, we waited until I felt Winter was really settling in. Can't wait for Spring now.
Need to check on our Florida friends down by Delray and Ft. Lauderdale, etc...AND our friends across the pond. They've got their hands full with flooding. Prayers up for the UK and hoping the damage in FL ends soon, wow!
Looks like there is absolutely no snow in our forecast atm. I'll take it! Out East may get a storm on Tues/Weds? Hope those affected by Sandy are a bit more prepared to handle it now.
Have a great rest of the day all!
Three died overnight when a tree fell down on their car, and another died when his car was washed away by the swollen river.
Have a great Sunday - any more bulb planting?
:)
(More like listening while I work. lol)
Nooooo....that's whistle while you lurk!!!
Sandi, we are still hearing bad reports of 800 homes flooded over in the UK. Oh My! But thank you for stopping in. I am going to your blog everytime I sign on to see if you are ok (it makes me hungry though ;)
Off to visit with son and grab all my stuff which has migrated over to their apartment, grrrr (our iron? my vaporizer) who does this? Oh, don't answer that. lol
Sorry, but I am, lol!
Most moms, of course, is the answer! And a lot of dads, too, lol!
I see Cutler is back and better than ever!
Hope your Thanksgiving went well, we had a great time, the girls made pumpkin pie and pecan pie, and I cooked the turkey in the kettle BBQ! It was a HOT day and Barb, Minnesotan born and bred, loved telling the family "back home" she was eating Thanksgiving dinner outside and in shorts!!!!They have now gone home and I do so miss my daughter but there is always another trip to enjoy.
Hope your Thanksgiving was good one, sometimes wonder if taking alot of days off is worth it with the backlog I have to address...***thinking****,ok it was worth it.
(NEw, Ozgalah, and Ylee, thanks for the posts! Glad you had a great Thanksgiving. Be back later for a proper respose and maybe some full moon music! LOL)
I am OK when it floods, and unless we have floods of biblical proportions I should never get my feet wet. I live in an area of MK called Crownhill.... And it is, a hill I mean!
Have a good day :-)
Did you see wu has a new toy! Have you discovered if you open it in a new tab then move off it to another tab, it pauses and gives you a running count on your tab of how many new entries happen in "Community Activity." This is really cool. I think it's fun anyway. LOL
Beautiful Moon photo. I need an excuse to gaze at the Moon and I don't have one.
I have just noticed it this morning. It may be good on a computer or laptop, but on a IPad it 'floats' and follows you up and down the page! Could get annoying!
Hi Jus - chilly out there this morning! (Cars are covered in a thick layer of ice! Told C he should allow extra to get the car warm and defrosted, or he will miss his train.
