I've had to change browser setting a couple times as YouTube makes changes.
Don't know much about snow forecasting so I'll just go with soon.
Pretty Blog BTW.
Ozgalah and Mush, this is for you! (oh and anyone else who loves the dog pics) I had to shoot pictures for a registry thing today. Here is Boomer at 9 mos old. He's still got knobby knees so there's even more room to grow! (Molly and him came over while the gang went snowboarding at Tyrol in Wisconsin...apparently no one broke any bones! This is good! WG leaves for Colorado on the 12th. It was between a working farm (commune) in Hawaii or back to the Mountains. She picked Colorado. Alrighty then....
Did I say HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEW!!! :)
oh yeah, slide show
lol
I din't look at wabit's. I did look at the GFS yesterday afternoon. Looked like snow might dip down into the SE. Anyway, I'll say you'll wake up to snow, um... Thursday. So, it'll snow overnight Wednesday.
PS. That's not the true forecast, just my wild a$$ed guess.
Hmmmm, I'm going to say November 21st. Just to screw things up for the holiday. Yup, that's about how 2012 runs.
Prize? Uhm...I still don't know. Maybe a lil suzy snowflake decoration :)
Good night all ships at sea or in port or where ever you may be. Trains are going to bed and a new week begins...
Today is Melbourne Cup day at Flemington racecourse it is known as the race that stops the nation, I always forget its on and don't see it until the six o clock news, I think you guys have a big event today also don't you, the odds on that winner look as tight as the Cup!
Our nor'easter is trending a little more east, lets hope so,so the impact on NJ and NY won't be too serious.
In fact its trending colder for us,we may even see a couple of inches of snow at the start before changing over.Hopefull this thing will continue to trend more east.
Hiya NEw, watching your Nor Easter. Glad you got your snow blower tuned up early. Hope you can leave the lights on there :(
Poor East Coasters. I'm sick about this storm hurting all those who are still suffering from Sandy.
Our Bears do look awesome. Erlacher and the Bears defense is probably at their best ever! What a division though. Very tough.
Ozgalah-so nice your daughter is going to be with you for Thanksgiving. This is the one from the states? Also, your storms sounded horrible. Hope no pups were in that or they'd be frightened of thunder forever. Nothing worse than a dog afraid of storms.
Ok back to work...it's been very busy.
Take care and I will be thinking of everyone out East.
Btw - cold, rainy, misty, foggy in Chicago. Rather a blah day. Feels cold enough to snow. But I don't think it will. I'll get more serious into the discussion later. Have a happy Hump Day!
We had the largest number of lightening strikes in one day ever out of that storm, and loads of strike fires too!
Friday is another training session. I have taken Boomer about 3 times for my own workouts with him. I'm getting discouraged though. We'll see how this friday goes.
Today, I had an online required session for work and had to take a 'tricky' test afterward. I'm drained.
I'm drained from the storms out East. So worried about all my relatives and not being able to do anything or not wanting to be a mother hen and preach preparation. Seems my voice is ineffective. You think I don't know this? What ever. I do know I can circle my wagons and just try to be quiet and help in some other way. Maybe since 911 I can't do disasters? It hurts too much. And I'm hundreds of miles away. I'm tired. We're tired. We are storm weary. This is horrible out there out East. It's so sad.
So, I'm closing my blog tomorrow for a little while. I need to re-group and circle the wagons with my crazy family. We will always be family and it's what we do.
I may take my trailer and a few chain saws and my 21 year old and head to New York just to help. It's totally a possibility and I know enough people who would tell me exactly how to get er done if I wanted to. It's a possibilty... Til then, I'll be on hiatus. Peace out.
If you do go to NY, please be careful, and prepare yourself, not just for hard work but for difficult scenes. And say hi for me to all the Gatsby ghosts in West Egg...
:)
I love that song. Here's another good one from the album. Well, the whole album is good.
"Never going back again"
Ps. Just noticed the Fox Lake sunset picture. Neat.
:)
This blog is closed to help NY. Sorry. All my love,,,
Boomer spending the night to work on skills for his class tomorrow :) Meatloaf goes in tomorrow to get the stitch taken out and get rid of the cone head. Yay.
Dau off to CO Monday possibly (right after the snow storm)
Chance of snow here Sunday/Mon? Maybe...
"...With this longwave trough and
associated trough/cold front move east...large scale ascent out
ahead of these features will bring showers and even a chance for
thunderstorms across the County Warning Area Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening.
Although with instability and moisture looking really meager...am
not overly concerned with any severe weather out ahead of this
front. Do expect a transition to a rain/snow mix late Sunday night
into early Monday morning as this precipitation continues east and much
colder air filters in behind this front. Although at this
time...this rain/snow mix appears that it would be short lived as
the deeper moisture is lost by middle morning Monday.
Rodriguez"
Then I had to take Meatloaf back to check his eye. It healed beautifully. However, when they took the cone off, he immediately began scratching the eye! This is while the vet was in the room and he basically screamed "don't let him do that or we'll have to do this surgery again". He recommended the cone go back on for two more days and then watch him carefully for a while.
Warmed up nicely here. 53 degrees and pleasant. Off to get some real work done.
This is my wish. :)
My friend and I worked at the same place and breathed the same air. Many years ago, the school was renovated, the ceilings were torn down and for over a month the hallways were so full of the dust from the ceilings and torn down walls that one could not see a few feet past our nose. Yes, the material torn down was asbestos, and yes, quite a few of our colleagues have since died from lung cancer. Most were non smokers, just like my friend. Yes, I feel angry that no one thought of us students and teachers, and stupid for not having the guts or the prescience to take a leave of absence during the renovations.
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday and a fun, healthy, and peaceful week.
High wind warning for Northern Illinois until late this afternoon when the cold front barrels through.
Hi Pros, that's awful to hear that your friends became ill. You were just doing your jobs or learning. Sorry for what she is going through now.
Lately we have been having some radon issues popping up in locations I am not used to seeing them. Radon is a colorless, odorless gas which can also cause lung cancer(without knowlege) a silent killer. It can be tested for though, and, in many areas it is a required test (can be done by a home inspector or by the owner). I think everyone, even in a rental, should do the test. The test can be bought at any hardware store and needs to be done exactly like the directions state so it comes out accurate (needs to be undisturbed or not in a drafty place). I think it is especially important to test for if you have children in the home or building.
Steps down off soap box...
Have a good Sunday all!
Did you know if you google "Chicago forecast" you get pages of links to TWC site, wu and accuweather, then other commercial weather sites, and no sign of NWS? Probably because the government does not pay to be on the first page. You know how that goes if you've ever paid google to get your own real estate page near the top.
OK. So, radon, huh? And you can buy the test over the counter without a prescription. That's interesting.
Have a fun afternoon!
Rain just started. It is 54 degrees in Rockford (west of here) 64 here, and 31 degrees west of Rockford in Des Moines! Ouch!
Dau has now convinced her brother to drive with her out to CO so, once again---we shall have WG and Bro's excellent adventures! They leave tomorrow. I'm taking the valium tonight, lol. Who knows what comedy and road trip perils await...it's always interesting.
BF, awe how you just walk away like that and leave that poor puppy all alone??? :( ha haha guilt trip!
Sounds like training is going ok, its hard work but worth it in the end are the dogs food motivated? My young boy is very easy to get his attention just put my hand to my pocket and he's listening, his Grandfather on the other hand was not in the slightest bit motivated by food, clickers, reward toys, or anything, he would only train when HE wanted to, but it worked out in the end, keep up the good work!
Hi Ozgalah, oooh, sorry to hear of fires already plaguing your area.
Yes, so far Boomer is food motivated. But, hubby had him out for a walk and he was the best one of all three without any food, so that's good. He is really learning. I will lengthen the time between treats as I do not necessarily want to have him be so much like that. As you say, the pocket trick will probably be good enough eventually.
We are supposed to go and watch the Bears game out because hubby doesn't have work tomorrow (Veterans Day Holiday) I do though. Probably won't be too late of an evening. Bears game is going to be interesting.
We are in a total lull of winds for the past 10 minutes. Really died down. Sort of a dryslot on the radar?
My cat is food trained, sort of; if I want her to come, I just turn on the can opener! :)
Travel prayers for your kids!
Ha ha on the food thing...good one! Stay warm. Our winds died down.
:)
Weather might turn stink.
Hi BF, that game was good if you wanted Houston to win. Actually, we had all the yewt and a bunch of friends and we all went out for the game. We had a blast. I didn't see much of the actual game, lol. We were talking too much. It was far less painful that way.
Wandering Gypsy and Bro are leaving soon. Their plan is to be in the mountains after daybreak tomorrow morning. She doesn't want to drive in the mountains at night. Alrighty then. Nocturnal road trip! OY.
And they are on the roll!

Just stopping by to say hi - and that I'm all in for another roadie after my trip up to Kansas. It was excellent fun, although I got home exhausted. And I'm not good for the twelve hour runs any more - the body can take it, but the eyes won't. I just can't see well enough any more to be driving strange roads in the middle of the night. I used to do it - but a little easing off of the gas pedal, metaphorically and otherwise seems good now.
This is my kind of driving music now. ;)
Movin on...more drivin music for dau and son#2 on their way to Colorado for the 'season'.
a href="" target="_blank">Link
I'll send it to them, but they won't listen cause I'm a Mom...whad are we to do with the wanderin folk? Someone told them to live the dream. Well, they took that literally...wow.
And now...Top Gear The best driving songs...

And, now back to the country, and another kind of good driving music. I like it all.

And, if ya can find a better Garth, (dir? uh) yeah...this song too!

What is totally bothering me is this ghost storm we've been worried about to hit the East coast for many runs of the far out models? Ok fine. Someone put me out of my misery and tell me they've been incorrect in the past week. Ok that would help...We've all seen this ghost storm for days on a scary way 364 hour out model. It's freaking me out so knock it off. And it isn't materializing yet I don't think. I bought into it after Sandy though, and have been very scared ever since these models have been showing something substantial on like the 22nd or 26th of November...it's scary to me for my relatives on the East Coast. So happy nothing has happened to set them back. Pray for a few weeks of calm so they can just recover.
Ok nite all ships. Stay safe at sea or where ever you may be. (Can't hear the trains due to the winds direction). Stay well.
Thanks for stopping in Wab.
Lol - all I have to do is open the cupboard that holds his food. How he knows I have no idea. Surely all the cupboards in the kitchen sound the same ....but no, he only comes running when that cupboard is opened!!
Thanks for the good wishes and the 'luv' from Chicago!
WG and Bro were at N. Platte about an hour ago. Making good time. They did not hit the black ice which caused trouble here in Illinois last night. The Elgin Ohare expressway was even closed down for a little while, I heard.
Off to look at some decorating ideas, then go to work. Happy Tuesday all.
Anyway, miserable cold rainy day here, but should get better into the weekend, then we're back to another strong nor'easter for the holiday week, lets hope its over by Thanksgiving, another slow mover.
I...can't.....move!
Me....either! :)
Kids make it yet?
Long day...they made it and it was a very smooth trip! Yay. Success. (19 hours? I think, but they went to Ft. Collins to see a friend first).
Anyhooo, NEw, I am seeing more chatter about that storm now. Still pretty far out there in time though. But no one can afford to take chances. If it doesn't happen, great! But if it does, uh oh...:(
Still cleaning and such. I'll check back before I hit the hay for any more evidence in the models.
Have a good night all!
