Welcome Fall (well, the feel of Fall is already in the air) and welcome all the changes a new season brings.
Let's see where the winding road takes us in this blog. Thank you for stopping by to set a spell and take in life :)

Candles lit for all those in harms way, or who have perished by weather, volcanoes, earthquakes, political/religious unrest and illness or strife. May the changing of the seasons bring about a change of calm skies, peace and goodness to the world.

{What an absolutely beautiful Fall.
Even the front today was like such fresh air. Can't describe it...but if I smell it again, I will remember}

Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville Illinois
1007 PM CDT Thursday Oct 4 2012

Discussion...
848 PM CDT

Frontal boundary arrived earlier this afternoon and quickly pushed
east across the area...with much cooler air filling in behind.
Temperatures rapidly fell into the middle 50s before sunset...and will
continue to fall through the remainder of the overnight into the
low/middle 40s away from Lake Michigan. Closer to Lake Michigan temperatures
will linger in the middle to possibly upper 40s in a few locations. Across
far northwest Illinois and including locations such as
Rockford...could see temperatures bottom out in the middle/upper 30s. Dew points
have already pushed into the low/middle 30s in some of these
locations.

Infrared imagery continues to show cooler clouds located south of
Chicago along the backside of the frontal boundary...with a slug
of precipitation stretching along and east of a Gibson City Illinois to
Rensselaer in. This area of precipitation is expected to continue over
these locations through the overnight hours...with possibly
another period of showers during the pre-dawn hours Friday. Elsewhere
have trimmed probability of precipitation to dry for the remainder of the overnight.

Hello, Ylee and Rob, Ozgalah and NEw ;)
Tonight was the wake. The whole group is over at the parent's house now and I think they have a bon fire.

The music for this is{was} epic today. Their playlist plays like one for us, (with an edge on some of the things we, our age, wouldn't expose) and to think me as a parent is being judgmental... about their limits (wow).
So many pictures at the wake. And, he was a parent, too! So many pictures of that new family and he apparently had some songs they played when he found out he was going to be a daddy, too. Wow, at 19. This is life.

Yes, he probably slept here every weekend for about their whole Soph year, lol til they got their licenses and girlfriends, and first cars, lol.
He and my son did see a few epic concerts, too and they got to have a lot of fun. Shred in the extreme. These guys were buds- who also disagreed on things and limits, too. So, to see my son say goodbye, knowing his friend pushed the limits too far and totally by accident-- maybe-- How can I say all this? Awakenings?
But, I'm a Mom? What do I know, lol? (A lot!) and they are starting to figure that out at -21- God Bless.

Jus,
Don't know enough to comment meaningfully, but I get that there was a loss close to home and that there is pain in your household.

Lost my closest friend when I was 18, so I can relate to your son. A very tender age to be a pallbearer. I was the one that everyone looked to so I had to "keep it together". Found a quiet hour that night to say goodbye.

Know that my thoughts are with you, your son and his friends at this time.

60-mph gust in Pueblo, Colo. as front blasts through! Temperature down to 48 from a high of 88 early Wednesday! (@breakingweather)

oh crud...it's here. So, let's review. It was 108 for like evah. Then it was actually pretty nice. Then we didn't get rain. Then we didn't get rain...and it was 108. Then it was pretty nice and we got drizzle and fog. And then Winter! The End ;)

Son just picked up the dogs from my house. He wants them home tonight.
He was still over at his friend's family house and many people (especially their young friends) have traveled in for this funeral.
He has to make a song CD for his friend's wake tomorrow (to play in the background). He has to prepare a speech, and be a pall bearer.
He's 21 and he takes it to heart. You know. Seriously. And, I know, it will all be ok. My heart aches for the youth who will go through this life, with its oh so highs and lows.

You think I only give lip service when we grieve for the world or the 21 year olds past (you know who I mean Vets). But, I am with each of you as much as sanity may allow. My heart is bigger than sanity for all the prayers up usually. This week, it is close to home.

Ok, goodnight all ships.

It will be a long two days. And, it will be cold after being so beautiful.

Hi Jus, Kitteh looks cute!! I am feeling like mean Momma at the moment, yesterday I started to trim my "old girls" coat as she was too hot but she is quite frail and after a while she had had enough so I stopped, now I am looking at just about the most untidy looking Welsh springer ever!!!!! I hope she will let me trim a bit more off later today but it is going to be hot again so it might be too much for her, will have to wait and see. Just spent an HOUR in the garden pulling out thistles now must get down to the cleaning.
Have a great day!

Hi BC, wow that's exactly how she's acting! She is scratching at the door, but sort of cautious when we come in because of the medicine. Thank goodness it is only once a day (antibiotic). I'd like to put something on the stitches because they look sort of dry, sore (not to be gross) but they are healing very fast. She's only 2 years old so youth is on her side.
Tomorrow, I'll have the morning with her. I have spent as much time in the room as I can just reading or laying with her to keep her company.

Well, enough talking about her. Here's Kitteh in her little 'cone' recovering from her surgery day 4. Night all!

But I don't want to be a cone head! ;(

Glad to read that Mushla is on the mend. My Charlie got his tummy torn in a cat fight several years ago. One day he was fine, the next day he had a serious infection. Turns out tummy fat is more prone to serious infections. He ended up getting a tummy tuck at the vet, with a huge (for him) Y incision and lots of stitches. And then had to wear a radar cone while locked in a spare bedroom for 2 weeks, just like Mushla is doing now. After about 4 days, Charlie hid in the closet when he saw me coming with antibiotic pills. At this point, I just know the recovery period is as hard on you as it is on Mushla.

Hang in there, both of you! Eventually, the stitches will come out and everyone will be happy.

Oh dear...argh! I missed ya Rob and NEw, you must have snuck in when I was debating posting my pics, lol

Rob, you have had quite enough and need to share that rain down there! I saw Miami is on track for a record as I'm sure your area may be, too.

NEw, sorry it was a tough day. You will get our cold, but we missed your rain dag nabbit...no fair. Not liking the 'plunge' of our temps down to 28!!! Wooooa that's a looong way down from gorgeous 77 degrees and sunshine!

Well, Ylee I'm Swedish, so I think Vikings are very real ;)

Actually, I'd like to dress up (oh wait, sorry wrong blog)

Burning leaves IS NOT a good idea around Chicagoland until we get some darn rain. I don't think that lil line is going to be enough either Ylee.

Wait, I have to back up to my above joke about dressing up and tell a story.

This past weekend, we went to Blarney's Island by boat for the last weekend of the year and bands and stuff. Well, the island was invaded by Pirates! All kinds of people were in costumes celebrating Pirate Day on the Chain of Lakes.
It just looked like a blast! I'm hooked and now I want to do next year's event (well, I have to check out this particular pirate group, lol a bit more cause they looked a bit 'fast' even for pirates, lol!!!)

Hard to believe you haven't had any rain yet; I see a puny band headed your way, but it looks like it's going to dry out before it gets there! :(

Da Bearz did themselves proud last night; do you think the Vikings are for real?

We turned the game on when hubby got home from his counsel meeting. Just in time to see the interception. #26 is speedy gonzales!!! Wahooo.

I was just by your blog cracking up at the post about how you may knit instead of finding the radar, lol...I didn't see that til now.

Dropped off three lil wabits at wabs and can we consider that a ditto for all?
Thanks for the tunes in the night, too BF. Hope you have a good night, too.

Services will be Thurs and Fri. Yewts in and out here, and I was watching the dogs too. The yewts have been over at Dave's a lot which is just at the end of the street (well cut through a house and it is the next street backyard)

May need to make them another Mostachiolli. I guess it was devoured. I am making an apple/spice bread right now to maybe take over...ramble ramble.

Rain discussion was a stretch for us at best...oh well.

Add: Sandi I know they should not be on this 'Settee' again, lol. ;) but sweet dreams all!

The Bears are playing real well. Man, they got a couple beeeg receivers. Basic: 2 Romo-thrown interceptions run back for TDs are the difference in the game right now. One was completely (double Cowboy - OKState and Dallas) Dez Bryant's bad. He didn't run the pattern and Romo was passing to two Bears.

Have a good night.

Hey!!!!!! We have a chance of rain! Wahooooo! Keeping fingers crossed! Even our hostas look sad. And they can tolerate most everything. May post the discussions later and follow a bit more carefully to watch.

Hi NEw, thank you so much. I kind of got into it with my son today. It's not hard because he's that age where, when you have a friend go, the guys just don't know quite how to deal with those emotions. Sometimes they pound their fist, or bang on a wall or just...you know?
He's ok though. We got into it about his work schedule. They didn't want to let him off and I said sometimes companies don't...He thinks that is pretty much just B.S. (I know, I know--he's new to things. W.E. they all learn someday)
I just also am harping on him to be really, really careful with his buddies with this tension so high. No drinking....(he's 21, generally doesn't drink) but I'm watching these guys as much as I can--even though they are adults.
Thanks for your thoughts. Yup! Here comes the cool weather. I think there's snow in the forecast for MN? I don't know. I'm not even watching the Bears tonight. Hope you had a good Monday.

Hi Ozgalah, sounds like you are having an enjoyable summer so far. Your scarecrow sounds very cool! And funny it keeps scaring YOU, lol.
Almonds? I saw almond trees in California, by Bakersfield area for the first time (well orchards of them for the first time) I didn't know what they were until I saw the Diamond Brand on a sign.
Yes, she's got a lil collar and she is bashing around in the bedroom she's remanded to. She is getting quite angry and is really trying to escape when she hears me coming toward the door. Giving her the medication is the worst though. No trouble with the big dogs, but little cats are difficult.

Oh well. Off to check the discussion. Hope for the best.

Hi Jus, sorry to hear your tragic news, so sad! Spring has begun here with some beautiful weather and the garden looks wonderful. Blossom everywhere and my roses are looking fantastic so hopefully I will soon be able to pick some for the house. Had the Grandaughter for the day on Sunday and we made a scarecrow for the orchard! Twice now I have walked round there and it has scared the heck out of me, the dogs give it a wide berth but we will get used to it so will the birds unfortunately, we have already lost half the almonds!!!!
Hope the animals are all feeling better, those collars are difficult, one of the dogs had one for a foot wound and nearly destroyed the house bashing into everything!

Jus, very sorry about the loss of that boy. Its so tough seeing someone so young pass away. You think about what could have been.Every time I see stories of car accidents where young people die,its always so sad.
Here In Mass, theres a horrible story where an older brother who was planning on joining the police force had just got his gun license and was showing his younger brother the gun when it went off.The story just sends chills down my back thinking of what that family is going through and especially the brother, how do you recover from that.
Anyway we enter October the real transition month, where by the middle part of the month, you really feel the chill in the air.Just hope there is no repeat this year of last years big snow storm at the end of the month.
Have a good Monday,if possible,my most hated day of the week.Prayers for that family.

Hi everyone. Happy October. Hope this month brings us all happiness, health and luck!

Thanks for the white rabbits Ylee. And for the condolences from you and Sandi. Services will be tough.

I apparently missed a thriller with the Ryder cup. I did see the big watch they gave Rory McIlroy. Too funny! They had some amazing weather to play in. Very, very lucky because if it turns ugly in September it is that cold hard rain and windy stuff. Nasty to golf in.

Okay...off to the office and 2 new clients for adventures in real estate. Yippie skippie. ;) Have a good Monday, if there is such a thing.

Gorgeous weather again here. But, no rain. Bad...this is getting bad.

Minimal if any changes to forecasts for rest of the night. Cirrus
cloud shield associated with the system over far eastern OK
continues to spread northward over the local area. Personal
observation reveals that the leading edge of the cirrus is quite
thin with the moon brightly shining through. Expect it to
gradually thicken overnight with partly cloud wording for the
rest of the night in the zone forecast product sufficient.

BF: Yes. They did. And, my son is in mourning. He stayed with the mother, he went to the room. He held his friend's hand. I think Dave now is a peaceful angel.

Forecast challenges with this forecast cycle focus mainly on precipitation
potential mainly across the southeast part of the forecast
Tuesday-Wednesday with closed low lifting out of the Gulf states
Tuesday-Wednesday...and then timing/evolution of precipitation and temperatures
through the weekend after strong cold front moves into the area
Thursday.

In the near term...quiet weather is in place across the region this
afternoon with high pressure spreading southeast across the northern
Great Lakes. Cool/dry advection on northeast low level winds has
allowed erosion of earlier lake-induced clouds...and dry and cool
conditions will be the rule through tonight. While some increase in
thin cirrus from the southwest is expected...fairly decent radiative
cooling setup should allow for temperatures to range from a few upper 30s
in the cooler Rock River valley locations of north central Illinois...to
the low-middle 50s right along the Lake Shore and within the core of
the Chicago urban core. Surface then continues to slide east while
weakening across the Great Lakes Monday...as closed upper low over
East Texas slowly lifts across the lower Mississippi Valley.
Increasing high clouds will be the main effect on much of the County Warning Area
during the day...though models are in reasonable agreement in
depicting the low level baroclinic zone and middle-level vorticity lobe
rotating northwest into eastern Illinois/northern in by late afternoon and
producing some light rain into the far southeastern part of the County Warning Area.
Thicker cloud cover across the southeast...and onshore winds
especially along the Illinois Lake Michigan shore...are executed to
hold temperatures in the middle-upper 60s in those locations...while the
remainder of northern Illinois tags the lower 70s. Guidance then trends a
little slower and farther west with the track of the system as it
continues to lift across Illinois and eventually across Lake Michigan and
lower Michigan state through Wednesday. The WRF remains deeper and
more closed as the trough lifts across our area late Tuesday night
and Wednesday...and therefore spreads precipitation farther west than most
of the guidance solutions. While the other models show the trough
shearing and becoming more open with time...it still appears that
there is a potential for at least some light precipitation to cover much of
the eastern 1/2-2/3 of the County Warning Area. Given this scenario have bumped probability of precipitation
across the east...and pushed some slights farther west across north
central Illinois Tuesday night/Wednesday. Along with the potential for some
showers and increased cloud cover...have lowered maximum temperatures from
earlier forecast especially Wednesday from middle/upper 70s to upper
60s/low 70s.

Hi Sandi, she did ok. She's trying to sneak out when we open the door. The cone is still on, though. No, we didn't get the pet insurance. We've looked into it but I think it was expensive (?) I keep saying they should only need about $130.00 every 6 mo in the budget for health...shots and such. We'll get there someday. Maybe? We do save for our emergencies so maybe it is about the same as it would be for the insurance in the long run.

So, we went to Blarney's Island yesterday for the last of the boating season. It was very fun.

But about 9pm, youngest son (molly and boomer's) came over and dropped the dogs off to race to the hospital for his friend.

His friend was in a bad car accident and he went to be there at the hospital. The friend died during the night.
My prayers go out to the family, his girlfriend and baby. Both WG and Son were friends with him.

So, will be making some food to bring over to the family today and helping son and WG get through this bad time.

Don't you have pet insurance for such as this? I have had it for my last two cats. Casper, the Persian, lived for ten years and died of kidney failure, and never cost me anything, except for having him put to sleep.
Blue is now thirteen and has never cost me a bean as yet.... But both have been house cats, never going out at all. That way they avoid roads, bites and fights! Mind you, it has probably cost me more in insurance over the last twenty years than it would for a couple of major surgeries!! Lol

Take care :-)

Hi Sandi, BF, Mush and all. What a long Caturday!!!

We went to get her at the vet and it was simply packed! We even had to wait in the lobby just for a pick up. Then it was more 'involved' then they thought for the surgery (of course) cha ching!!! Holy smokes. I could have bought 50 cats for the price to save this ONE. LOL. She had two wounds (We knew that but were not sure if the second was as bad. It was.) Both needed surgery and stitches. Ouch.

So, she has a cone and tried to get that off even in the carrier in the car! I already wrote this on FB, but...it's going to be a very LONG 10-14 days for this cat to have a cone on and recover.
She's up in one of the bedrooms closed up because she's not supposed to do stairs or be active. So she's in kitty hospital up there whining already. Sheesh.

Sandi, thank you for the beautiful sentiment from Blue. It's very beautiful. We are very happy Meatloaf's issues didn't require any surgery ;) or we'd be eating ramen noodles for the next 6 months, LOL.

BF - That's right, you had to make Alfie an indoor cat, too. Hubby thinks she should be able to outside during the day. But, I see those big stray cats during the day all the time, so I don't know what good that would be. We'll see. I have to go back and watch that Norman thing because I started this post and don't want to lose it.

Hiya Mush, 'Mushla' will be okay. She has a very large bedroom with a walk in closet with everything she needs. I opened the blinds too so she can look out the windows at the birds. I won't open the windows more than a crack cause she'll go for it! LOL I just hope she sleeps a lot to heal. Thank you for caring :)

Ok off to accomplish more than just 'pet hospital' crud...

As many of you can see from the Ryder Cup, it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL in Chicagoland this weekend! Sorry so many are having flooding issues. Stay safe.

Blue sends love to little kitty, and hopes she is feeling better, soon.
(And although he isn't a dog person, he hopes Meatloaf gets better, too)

Alphie sends his good wishes but mostly his condolences to little kitty. He knows how it is to have to stay inside. But it does have its perks, he says. If you work hard at it, you can train your human to let you drink running water from the bathtub faucet.

Here you go, jus.
Norman
LOL. I should post that in the main but I don't want to get banned.

Well, they didn't do the surgery until late in the evening. But I guess it went ok so they say. They sounded rather rushed. I asked to pick her up because they sounded like she'd be alone...anyhow, I'll get her tomorrow. Darn kitteh tugging on my heart.

Hi NEw, LOL on the perpetual holiday thing...Sounds like the rain will be all around us! Good for TX and you all. If it stays in this pattern, it may not be a bad idea to get those Christmas lights up before a snow pattern sets up. Acckkkk. I know I said the four letter 'S' word!

Well, worries worries...
Prayers up for Baby Kitteh.
Our first thing to do this morning while hubby is off from work was to get the animals to the vet.
Mushla (baby kitteh, aka Lucy) had a wound of some sort and I wanted to get it checked out. Plus, Meatloaf's eye didn't seem much better after our visit last week.

Guess who is REALLY in trouble? It's the cat! She has a very bad infection and abscess and now needs surgery. She will be in surgery right away this afternoon. They will flush the wound and infection out and she will need stitches.
I hope she will be okay. She's a very good cat. I'm sure she will be okay, it's just a flesh wound.
I am keeping her indoors from now on, she's not a large cat. Too many cats roaming the woods and stuff.

Meatloaf got another type of cream for his eye and a shot of allergy medicine and an antibiotic. Sheesh! Any proposals for an affordable pet care act in congress?! j/k (I know, bad joke, but that's what I do when I'm nervous)...

She will be there overnight, but I'll let you know how she does through surgery :(

Pumpkins everywhere,I see Christmas displays going up in some stores,Thanksgiving commercials.
So once Labor day is over why don't we just lump the entire coming holiday season into one long celebration.Stores are mixing all the holidays together as it is.I think I'll go out next week and put up my christmas lights, hang the mistletoe above my pumpkin, you know turn it into one big holiday.
Hallogivingmas.
As you can tell,I wish we would go back to keeping the holidays seperate.Done with my rant.
Have a good day.Cold and wet out here for the next several days, into next week.Where oh where did summer go.

Last boating weekend here! It's beautiful weather on tap for Chicago for the next few days. (Lake Michigan may be a bit too windy for small craft?) But the inland lakes should be gorgeous.

It's hard to throw this in--but--We REALLY NEED rain badly. Next chance of rain appears to be over 1 WEEK away next Saturday(?) Let's hope something changes that scenario!

Take care and TGIF!

Well, anyway...let's change the subject. Weather here is really nice for the time being.
So, goodnight all. I'll leave with a cute photo of a quilt my friend made. She works at a quilt shop close to here.
B safe all ships. Trains are going to bed...yada yada Pax! Namaste!

Add: Wab, sorry. We posted at the same time. In any case, I wish that family peace, as I'm sure we all do. Who knows? But hope the kids are taken care of and loved!
