Hey, jus! Long day, eh? I'm having one of those "Work 16 hours until 11AM then get 5 hours sleep then come back to work at 7 and try to do a new blog while tired" kind of days!
Storms are forecast in Wabit territory....
Member Since: February 3, 2011 Posts: 65 Comments: 11319
What? Closing your blog again? Guess it's a good thing I got here before you rolled up the sidewalks!
I hadn't even seen the pics of the new puppy. Now I have, and the only word that seems appropriate is: adorable. Really, truly. I'm no dog person, but I could be that dog's person, if Dixie Rose would let me.
And I see I missed a rant. That's ok. I'm not much into rants these days - doling 'em out or listening to them. It seems like everyone is ranting and I just don't have the patience. On the other hand, you've had a few pretty good ones in the past - I guess I would listen to your rants, if you let me do it while I sip on my newest favorite cold-brewed coffee. ;)
Honest - if you're an iced coffee fan, let me know, because I've got the best recipe ever. There's not a lick of work to it, as long as you've got a container and know how to use a strainer. And it's the best coffee in the world - I've been using Starbuck's Verona, and it tastes completely different. No bitterness and some hints of chocolate. Yum.
I've gone back to my Gas Game. Every Monday I put in $40 worth, and try to make it last the whole week. Of course, when it hits $5 that won't work so well, but it does make me think more about combining errands and such, and that's good, anyway.
Other than that - no news here. Spring has sprung, of course, and the people who planned the oleander festivals for the end of April are in a world of hurt because the oleanders are in full bloom, but so it goes. I've got a friend up in Michigan, plunk in the middle of the orchards, who's been close to a heart attack for two days. All of the cherries and apples are in full bloom, and they really are afraid they're going to lose the whole crop. It's just ghastly. It's been two days since she's posted - I'm sure it's all hands on deck in the orchards to do what they can with their fans, fires, etc. I suppose they don't use smudge pots any more... Need to go check that out.
Have a good one - if the world weighs too heavy, go whack a weed!

See, I leave for a minute and miss all of you. I had to go back to work on the puter.
BF, I still really want to put up some of the other maps and things we learned in the seminar, but just don't get the time lately.
Man, it's warm, humid and very windy out there. Ick. Glad it may be dying down off the severe threat because I can feel something hanging.
Ylee, I meant to ask you if you were coming back in the morning. Somehow figured that was the case. 5 hours. Ugh. So far we are about even on the hours for work. 6 am (effectively) -- to 7:30 pm listing a house tonight. I think we call that creeping charlie here? It's really baaaaad this year, too. My Mother In Law has a natural treatment formula for it. Safe for pets and the environment. If you would like it, please let me know.
Oh btw, remember how you said the alert radio automatically re-set. You were right. I really sat down with it tonight and re-programmed it, and all the settings were still there.
Shore, that iced coffee sounds pretty good! However, there are reasons for me limiting my intake of caffeine at the moment ;) Rants could have something to do with it, lol!
Yes, it was a good rant :) You would have liked it. A worthy cause.
I hope your friends in Michigan were able to salvage some of their orchards. We got lucky again in Illinois for the most part. I don't think we had damage -- knock on wood. We've got a looong way to go until we are in the clear, however. LOOOONG way.
Let's not even get started on the gas prices. Unfortunately, IMO it is affecting our young people the worst. They just got on their feet. I see so many making very disciplined attempts to budget, not charge things, live within their means, and feed their families. This just hurts. It hurts young families trying not to use charge cards to drive to work and get that next paycheck. Insult to injury.
Contest will end tomorrow at about lunch time for BOOMER CAPTIONS! Vote today! LOL!

Jus, it's really no use on the henbit. The surrounding fields are full of the stuff; all I can do is enjoy the little purple flowers, lol! The stuff doesn't like strong sun, so by summer most of it has died down, anyway.
Glad my advice worked on the radio; I get lucky once in awhile! :)
Sending soothing vibes for tomorrow!

Just checking your theta e. No wonder the air feels like something hanging. Looks like the storms are moving south of you and into INdiana. Watch when they hit the blue and darker blue on the map. Actually IN theta e looks higher than it did. A while ago IN had dark blue.
G'nite.

Hi,Jus,stopping in quickly before I leave.I'll be knee deep in construction the few days. The big project is to keep from injuring myself as I tear things apart and try not to electrocute myself as I wire up my recess lighting. If the power goes out all over the east coast, you'll know I crossed the wrong wires.Have a great weekend.

Hi Jus love the captions, though what's a RCA dog?!!!!!Busy, busy weekend, two dog shows and family birthdays. Haven't seen new grandson for two weeks as they were all busy last week and don't think I will get there this weekend either, never mind Easter next weekend and hopefully a bit more time. Have a great weekend!

Hi hooo, well, Dau moved on to the next round of Karaoke. They had her do a sing off with others at the end. But they always do that.
Soooooo much talent in this competition. It is thoroughly entertaining on a Wednesday! However, at my age it is a bit late. I am managing ;) to keep up.
Dau is fun to see along with all the other talent. I have many vids on Youtube of this --well-- this is Fox Lake, and some may not quite believe the caliber of the talent. Gosh, do we all have that talent laying dormant somewhere in our little small towns? I took some videos of many other singers in the competition. It was sooo good. But, I'll have to ask if they mind me posting them and get permission. Awesome! Have a blast. Sing, Dance, Be Merry! Stay up late! Have a Karaoke contest! Sing for FUN!
down to details, Dau won with 'At Last'. Oh Etta would be proud. Awesome!

Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville Illinois 101 am CDT Thursday Mar 29 2012
Discussion... 847 PM CDT
For evening update...
Had updated earlier to remove headlines with red flag warning expiration...and to tweak hourly forecast temperature/wind grids for details of lake breeze front. Main concerns at middle-evening are temperatures overnight and potential for patchy frost. Made only minor tweaks to overnight lows.
Weak secondary cool front settled across the area late this afternoon and helped push lake breeze inland across Chicago and Northwest Indiana. High pressure ridge from northeast Manitoba into the upper Mississippi Valley will build across the forecast area overnight...setting the stage for a cool night with light winds and generally clear skies. Surface dew point temperatures in the low-middle 30s suggest min temperatures in that range likely away from Lake Michigan and the urban heat center of Chicago...particularly across north central and inland parts of northeast Illinois. North-south thermal gradient north of frontal boundary over lower Ohio/Missouri valleys...and the potential for some patchy high cloud cover associated with plains convection and middle-level warm advection...should keep frost potential lower across southern parts of the County Warning Area. Light winds off relatively Warm Lake Michigan should keep areas close to the Lake Shore frost-free.
Cool northeast-east low level winds will blow off the lake Thursday as high pressure ridge drifts off to the east and low pressure develops across the middle-Missouri Valley to our west. Warm advection develops aloft during the afternoon/evening hours...which should lead to an overall increase in cloud cover from the west by evening. Low level Theta-E axis and 35 knots low level jet develop into region Thursday night ahead of approaching short wave trough...with precipitation chances increasing rapidly beyond Thursday evening.
