October 21, 2011: After our big winds this week, we have some nicer weather on tap for the weekend. Enjoy-- Chicagoland!

October 11: Feel the humidity? Forgot what that felt like. We had an amazing run of weather for the first weeks of October. Change is in the air. We may squeak out one more good weekend after some raindrops and lower temps. during the week.
Hope the construction gang hurries and gets us wrapped up on the outside.
Be safe all ships!

October 4, 2011 - A quiet beautiful week of Fall here for Northern IL and Chicagoland. Hope all can get out and enjoy walking, golfing, tennis, or just being in the sunshine. The leaves are about 1/3 turned now, with our best yet to come later this October.
Have a good week. Be safe all ships!

Last Day of September: The Western portions of Northern IL will be dealing with some reeeeaaallly cold temps tonight and tomorrow night. Frost warnings are up out West.
By Sunday, things look to be heating up again and we should see nice 75 to maybe 80 degrees by Tues. Indian Summer.
Enjoy Midwest! Colors are really starting now. The Hickories are awesome and soon the reds will be, too. Hope everyone gets a moment to drive a rustic road or just enjoy Fall next week after all our rains. Be safe all ships!

September 27, 2011 - As our Low moves on, yet another advisory comes up for wind tomorrow evening through Fri morning. Just in time for the guys to start the roof ;( Oh well, we knew weather may become an issue as it can at any time. I did notify the contractor because they were to start taking the roof off tomorrow and not sure this is a good idea in 40 to 50 mph gusts???

I'll be posting some pics in the blog as the project goes on. Hope everyone has a good week and a very nice weekend.

(Keeping the Fall pic for the blog for now)

September 22, 2011 - Welcome Fall?
Looks like the drizzly, on and off rains will be with us for a while, at least until Mon/Tues. And, we will struggle to be even 60 degrees, too.
So, grab your raincoat and umbrella and keep them close for the next week. Bundle up for those football games or outdoor activities. Hot cocoa for everyone :)

(One favorite Fall pic for some color to da blog)

September 11, 2011 - The memorials have been stunning today. Our faces grim, our memories grimmer. Now, it's time to go forward, wipe our tears and teach our children well.

Not much else to say (sort of out of words today so let the new blog fall where it may).
Weather in Chitown area looks to be setting up with a high which may let some UGH frost in here soon this week? But, during the daytime hours it's gonna be pretty sweet!
Sooooo...as Fall comes rolling in, I'll leave you all with Molly:

We Will Never Forget You Who Gave Your Precious Lives 9/11/01

Photos from Ground Zero. Not the best or most clear, but they are my precious reminders of visiting Ground Zero to honor our family members who survived that day in New York. And also met with family who worked in the Pentagon and near the Capital and survived.

These pictures were taken a little over 1 year later when the site was being cleared and re-built, a testament of America's will to endure and not let the terrorists defeat us.
I sat in a coffee shop on a corner looking over ground zero, and through those windows, staring at the site, the images of what people saw through those same windows the morning of September 11th, came rushing through my heart. There are no words. But, from my heart these pictures time and again remind me, we were all in it together.

Watching the memorial near Shanksville, PA this afternoon, it was a beautiful ceremony. My tears flowed when Sarah McLachlan sang 'Angel' and then Danny Boy played in the background...
There will be many more tears during these ceremonies.

We will never forget.

Be safe all ships in port or at sea, and may the angels watch over you where ever you may be.
