Feb. 5: It will warm up for a short while, but then we dip down back into the arctic in a few days. Enjoy the warmth and maybe get to some drains or more digging out (roof clearing) while it lasts. Chance of light snow through the weekend, could complicate travel just a tad.

Feb. 4: The schools will open back up tomorrow and in the morning people will still have to be really careful of these wind chills. Up here in No. IL, the winds are blowing. We are thankful some of the snow was a little heavy, or maybe has a frozen layer on it, because it is not drifting as bad as 21 inches could, thank goodness. Most of the Municipalities have lowered their event status to a stage 4 now and are doing basic clean up after the snow. Some of the worst of the roads opened today. Some people I know just got their side streets plowed and dug out of their driveways today.
The Chicago Fire Chief said today that people needed to really salt their front porches so if there was a fire, the snow that has melted from the bright sun would not trap them in their homes tonight if if freezes. Eeek!

Very much looking forward to 22 degrees tomorrow! (if you can believe that!) Be safe all ships South...I am thinking of you all.

Feb 3:Mother Nature has another trick up her sleeve as arctic cold (which was the culprit of the blizzard) dips down once again. It will give us temps of -7 and Dangerous Wind Chill factors which may get down to -35.

Here in Chicagoland, our roads are still being cleared. Many schools are closed tomorrow, which I believe is a good thing with the cold. Some trains are on time, but others are delayed and it could be a long wait outside for some commuters. If you must drive, or have to be outside, bundle up. It will only take a few minutes for frostbite to kick in at -35. Please have an emergency kit with blankets and a full tank of gas, and charged cell phone in your car in case you get stuck. Teens where abouts should be monitored carefully to make sure they get to their destinations and aren't in a snow drift somewhere. Hang in there! Phil says Spring is coming early! :)

Dau started to make an igloo, but it turned into a snow couch, lol

HUNKER DOWN...
