OHIO RIVER

Got a late start Monday, but was in no hurry to get anywhere.

I headed west on I-64, but exited after just a few miles into Indiana, looking for golf. I was wanting to play an old favorite - Valley View - high in the Indiana hills above the Ohio River.

I have played this course many times, but not since at least 20 years ago. I had trouble finding it. Little country roads winding around. After 45 minutes I gave up. I actually think they built houses around it and swallowed it up where it looked completely different. Too bad I did not have the GPS device, which is heading to Louisville right now with all my other stuff.

I headed west on Rt 16 and 62. Winding roads that followed the Ohio River. 45-55 mph roads.

I went through Leavenworth, Tell City, and Evansville. Like I said, I am slowing down. I continued along the river, stopping in Cave In Rock to watch the ferry load up. I ended up crossing a narrow blue bridge into PADUCAH, KY. Not sure if I have ever been here.

I had a Chinese dinner and watched the Lady Cardinals go down in flames. Darn, they only got to #2. Still a GREAT year!

Today there is golf. A couple courses in the area.

Then.....?

You passed about three miles to the north as the crow flies, Joe! The family and I took the ferry at cave-in-rock about a month ago; beats driving across over a skinny blue bridge, IMO.

I hope you let any subsequent tornadoes to "play through!" :' )

I am in stormy Searcy, Arkansas, north of Little Rock.

Arkansas is the big subject right now on Weather Channel. Tornado warnings, thunder and lightening, rain is getting heavy. Police sirens passing the hotel. The air sirens were going for awhile which was "interesting."

The alarm keeps buzzing on my TV.

OH yeah, golfed today in Jonesboro, ARK. Actually played pretty well.

I, too, am so glad the feline family is getting along well. Now we just need to know how Dianna is adapting!!!

I wonder what this weather is going to do. I hope little. So many people have been hurt with the various strong weather systems the last few years. We had our big 1974 tornado and I hope we never see another like it. Good luck to everyone. Joe, your bed is still available here in Louisville!!! xo

Joe,

YOU WERE IN CAVE-IN-ROCK, IL.??!!! Did you go see the cave? They filmed parts of "HOW THE WEST WAS WON" there. I have family all over down there. I used to live a few miles down Route 1 from there when I was a little girl. Love going there whenever I can. We have family reunions in the park there in August (Mom's side) and September (Dad's side).

I know the bridge you crossed over also. Did you see the unique rest stop just inside of Paducah? An old mansion that you can take a tour of. Paducah also has the American Quilters Museum that is outstanding.

Down the road, in Grand Rivers (on Land Between The Lakes) is a great restaurant called Patti's 1880's Settlement. Two inch pork chops, pies with 8" high meringue, fresh baked bread (baked in flower pots) with strawberry butter & great fried pickles! Makes me hungry just thinking about all of it.

Storms coming in here at St. Louis later today & tonight. Coming in from the south, southwest & west. Hope you don't get caught in any of them. Have a fun and safe adventure!

Great to hear the cats are all getting along and even with the dog!

Hope you check out a weather map JoeA as it looks like you aren't going to be able to escape a system crossing the country unless you head to Texas! Enjoy the golfing!

This is an interesting time of year, trasition from winter to spring is sometimes a tad exciting with the weather, and this year is looking like that. Watch the skies....big weather coming! But we are all fans of weather, right? Floods coming very soon...

After fitful showers and some sunbreaks, it has opened up here and is raining and gusting, with my cats looking out and deciding to use the litterbox rather than the great outdoors. I have been gone a lot the last several days, so when I return home I have a lot of catching up to do in the kitty-loving department. Dutchie now climbs into my lap and shows a lot of affection, Fluff flops down on her side and pulls herself across the carpet with quiet little meows.

Both get the full treatment in turn. They are adapting well, even nose to nose with my cats. No hissing or spitting any more except a bit between the two of them. They are still wary of Maggie, but Fluff walked up behind Maggie and sniffed at her big tail yesterday. It's good here.
