Just when I needed help, I got it. My appeal in the last blog was answered.
Long-time regular blog participant OSDIANNA to the rescue. THANK YOU.
I knew this was asking a lot for whoever would agree to it, and I was running out of time. I could not buy tickets or make plans.
Today I bought tickets. I rented a car. I looked into pet friendly hotels.
I leave Dutch on April Fools Day. Arrive in Seattle around 8 PM.. Pick up the rental after gathering up the girls. Then straight to the hotel. The cats will be hungry. Next morning we take a nice 2.5 hour ride southwest to the Pacific shore.
I introduce myself to OSDianna, then I introduce my cats to her cats and dog. Hopefully no fur will fly. She has been through this ACCLIMATION process before, sounds like she will do just what I would do. Segregate the cats for awhile, maybe a few days or a week. It will be obvious when it is time to let them mingle. Keep them inside.
I will stay in town for the night, then back to Seattle next morning. Catch a plane at 12:30 to Chicago, then to Louisville at 10 PM.
I fly back May 31st. Leaving Louisville at 7 AM, I get to Dutch at 5 PM. Almost unbelievable. No marathon this time, thanks to minimal layovers (1 hour in Anchorage) and one LONG flight from Chicago to Anchorage. Usually you have to see Portland or Seattle.
Yesterday we had bright sun most of the afternoon, temps around 50. I joked that we could be in a hurricane within a couple hours, such is the weather here.
I woke up last night with the sleet blasting my window with 65 mph winds. It was another slush blizzard.. Temperatures above freezing, but close. 6 inches of slush. Heavy and wet, easy to get stuck in it with any vehicle. It slowed down a couple times today, then re-started. A couple periods of bright sun, blinding with the snow.
Very odd right now. We should be very busy, but I had only one business phone call today. A decent day off. Same with this past weekend. Plenty of incoming freight to unload, but NO boats waiting. No late night crap. We left around 5 PM on Friday. May be the only time that has happened in my five years here.
Thanks to all the notes and emails regarding an interest in helping with the cats. And THANKS again to OSDIANNA.

Ask questions later.
But that’s OK because Joe wasn’t ever going to pay out the $18,000 it would have taken to get them all over here in the first place, what with the flights and immunisation jabs – not to mention the 6 months strict segregation in anti-rabies quarantine.
For Joseph.
He’s been living in wild isolation for 5 years, I doubt even he knows what is currently incubatory about his person.
Though the girls and I would have promised faithfully to visit him in his small cell everyday to slot fresh nuggets of charcoal through the bars for his small grill. We shan’t see him starve, there are some very good deals on processed ‘beef’ burgers trotting in from the European continent just now.
Neigh galloping in.
My parents really disliked cats, so of course I had to have one as soon as I left home...and then I needed a second to keep company with the first; I have been hooked since then...46 years of multiple cats, and three dogs. You have seen the video of Dutchie and the foxes? I expect she will let my lab Maggie know who is in charge too.
I'll keep all informed.
Our latest prize is an extremely affectionate BIG kitty, black with white trim, that must weigh in at 25 pounds. She was obviously someone's very pampered pet. She had been stopping by for food regularly starting about a year ago. Her original "owners" moved away, abandoning their house. They left the doors and windows open for the benefit of their two cats. "Baby Black" as we call her found our front door open one day, walked in, hopped up in Muriel's lap in the den and went to sleep. Muriel picked up a brush after kitty had a nice nap. Baby Black just lay there lifting an arm or leg as required to aid the brushing.
Her mate is a very tough looking genuine back-alley tom cat. We call him "Snake" because he can't meow, he only hisses.
Again, very happy about Fluff and Dutchie.
We had a very smart little storm come roaring through yesterday bringing a fair amount of wind and 0.40" of rain in just a few hours. The mountains south of town were very white; they must have had at least two inches of snow to look like they did. I couldn't see the higher mountains north of us such as Mount Diablo. It is now clear and cool with no rain in the ten day forecast.
Got to get ready for a Physical Therapy appointment.
You're very lucky, Joe. OSDianna came to the rescue and she's not even located that far from where you've got to go anyway.
OSDianna, you're the greatest!
Due to the Pacific storms from Joe's neck of the coast, the beach changes all the time. Most of us who chose to move here are storm fans, and we love to stand on the top of the dunes and watch. I feel pretty blessed to live here.
We are having a Big Pacific Storm today, with nearly an inch of rain since about 3am, winds 20-25 mph gusting to 30...seas running 22ft; nothing like Joe gets, but pretty substantial for us. The biggest difference is we have all these big spruce, hemlock, and fir trees surrounding us. Makes for an exciting day!
Lots of new snow in the Cascades; skiing will be BIG this weekend. Enjoy your skiing, cybersuze.
