Our weather cycle remains fluid. A few days ago I was stuck in my driveway for a day and a half after we got about a foot of wet snow. When I finally got out, they plowed my driveway
The melt began almost immediately. Quickly followed by freezing temperatures.
The result was a layer of slush that re-froze. Rough driving. Especially in the freight yard.
GNU-EST dropped a set of keys when he arrived, just outside my back door. They could not be found in the dark, next morning there was snow. It has been snowing since. No sign of keys.
Last night it was raining and blowing, even the deepest snow is melting away.
Today is the Holiest of Holy Days. Super Sunday. As of now, The Papal Mass is finished. The tailgating has begun. At some point everyone will look up and the game will be in process.
At Halftime we all get BOUNCY who will be lip-synching LIVE. Why not give a couple of close-up shots of the CD player? A couple weeks ago Bouncy was in a bit of controversy / publicity when she lip-synched the National Anthem at The Presidential Inauguration. Then a couple days ago she had a press conference where she showed she could actually sing The National Anthem live. I have to wonder why she did not do so in the first place.
I know what you are thinking, EVERYONE LOVES FOOTBALL.
My guess is that it will be a close game. I say RAVENS by three, with double murderer Ray Lewis leading his team to victory. 31-28.
Crazy world.

Read under paragraph titled "Murder Trail"
This man,Ray "smashmouth" Lewis was "cleared" of those horrible murders..
The families of the deceased must be appalled by this man..
I believe the Ravens will win the game by talent alone..
But I'd bet he gets many a flag thrown his way..
Glad he's retiring after this game..
Woe to those around him as he will then have no outlet for his anger..
JMO..
I'll go with:
Ravens 24
49er's 21
That Lewis is the author of what some deem a vicious football defense may be regrettable, but he is considered to be, by many, the greatest football defenseman to ever play the game. There are a lot of notions about good sportsmanship that apply, and ought to apply to high school and collegiate football. But, I think we have to face the fact that pro football is about money and power and lots of both and sportsmanship is measured in blood.
Pro football players are our equivalent of Roman gladiators, playing a game that is potentially just as lethal were it not that they have better armor than the gladiators had. We roar as a society at the shear violence of the pro game. That is what puts lots of those butts in the seats. Nothing much to improve the safety of the game, in fact, nothing particularly concerns anyone about the safety of the game, until injuries, fatalities and off field behavior start costing too much to the team and owners for medical expenses and injury claims or loss of fan support because of some off field behavior too egregious even for American public taste starts cutting into the gate earnings -- judging by the fare on TV, such behavior has to be pretty bloody awful!
I''m not especially into the game this year. Too much of the pre-game BS I thought reflected badly on the characters of the players. I'd say there are aspersions to spare to cast on both teams on ethical grounds. And, as far as the players are concerned, none of them are among my old favorites. But, I wish them success even if it will go to their heads.
Another week of this weather, and our almond trees and plum trees are going to start blossoming. And, then a week later, all hell will come sailing out of the Arctic and plaster those lovely blossoms all over my black 4Runner. Luckily, every year so far, there have been enough trees that get fertilized that we have a nice plum crop, most of which ends up splotted on our back parking apron or pecked by the jays and crows before we can get too it. Some years we get so many plums in a short spell that we can't begin to eat all of them. I just don't have the determination anymore to try to preserve them; besides, we really like our jays and crows.
Re: lost keys...isn't there someone on the island with a metal detector? It seems to me with the amount of snow it is possible to have up there, and the driftage of course...well, you get the drift...pun intended.
The metal detector is a great idea osdianna. Our son-in-law just used his to find 19 safety pins hidden in our bedroom carpet! I mean, you simply could not see them with your eyes. They had worked their way down to the very base of the pile.
It was so nice here Sunday afternoon that I got out and helped my neighbor's son take photos of my axe collection for Craig's List. I plan to sell off a lot of tools etc. Which I doubt that I'll ever use. In fact, most of them I haven't used at all, but they were "neat" to have. Later today, around 4 PM is the big scan.
I'll bet the lights go out at Jay Z's place all the time.
Still, the half hour delay gave me an unusual opportunity to cast an eye over some of the CBS live coverage. It seems the BBC's studio were suffering darkness in the half of the stadium that went under the weave, so they switched to chatter in the stadium from the CBS anchor type chaps.
And anchored they certainly were.
How in hell do they manage to even lift their hands off the desk whilst wearing such gold hub cap sized watches and bagel sized blingy rings? They'd appear more animated if they didn't require hired flunkies to gesticulate on their behalf. Less is more fellas, less is more.
I can't believe Joe predicted a Ravens' win by 3! Wow!
Actually, they could have lit up the stadium just fine had they coordinated their rings with the remaining light...to reflect the light onto the field.
Which I doubt is true.
Unless they are all playing hide and seek with me.
Which seems unlikely.
Rotten sods....
She was due into port on Monday afternoon, (so in a few hours from now) – but that will have been dependant on her making headway through some heavy seas with little power. Minimum shoveage is my technical term for the situation in hand. She may not arrive on time – but if she does she will meet the lumpy land in 20-25mph gusty stuff. All power to the heroic tugboats, may they provide shoveage aplenty.
Osdianna – I have been following the King in the car park story over the years, but I'd held little hope of the DNA tests being able to make any positive identification of the remains. I am a former University student of the city of Leicester and I have to say the thought that I may have once been trampling (stumbling drunkenly) all over a former monarch's last resting place had rather tickled me. There is a documentary on TV tonight all about the investigation and how they came to make this apparently 'beyond reasonable doubt' confirmation of his identity. I shall be watching – I love that period in British history, 500 years have passed but there is still so much of that time left for all to see here. Fascinating stuff.
Dotmom – the Super Bowl rings were HUGE! I have occasional tables that are smaller than that!
JOE - Get GNU-EST to check the local nesting sites if you want your keys back. Take a dead rat as a swapsy. Those eagles look like tough negotiators to me...
A large vessel arrived today and sits in Summer Bay. I took photos about three miles away, so they are a bit unclear.
Trying to be off tomorrow, so I will take a ride for a closer view.
Snowing again...
