October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
By: jitterymoose , 8:07 PM GMT on September 28, 2009
I think we're all aware that breast cancer exists, but I think people need to be aware, also, that it's not just a woman's disease. My uncle Eugene died of breast cancer back in the 1980s. Breast cancer wiped out my mom's family -- Verda (d.1969), Willow (1972), Jocelyn (1979), Josephine (1983), Eugene (1985)...my mom....not quite dead yet, but it'll probably get her in the end (she's too busy to die at the moment, she'll have to schedule it for a later time because the "old people" (and she's 79) need her to look after them).
So, guys -- be aware that it can happen to you, too.
Oh, and because I'm a Whovian (basically -- I really like the Doctor Who series), I happened upon David Tennant's Facebook site, and there was this PSA from the AICR and their "Don't Let Cancer Have the Last Word" video archive. What a nice idea.
