Tallahassee Forecast Discussion 2/23/13
short term(today-monday morning).....
currently there is a flash flood watch in effect until sunday for leon, jefferson and wakulla counties. A flash flood watch means that conditions are favorable for localized flooding of low lying areas. For today expect some active weather to be in the area from the approaching cold front. This may cause the flash flood watch to become a warning if the approaching front moves very slow and allows more rainfall in the area. The front may also be strong enough to produce some thunderstorms for today. Today the high will be around 74F. For tonight there will still be some showers in the area with a low around 58F. Sunday morning will have some lingering showers from the previous day. It will be a milder day with significant cloud cover in the area prohibiting temperatures to reach their full potential. Highs will be around 72F. Sunday night the low will be around 60F.
Long Term(monday-Friday).....
For the extended period the NAM and GFS models are in agreement for this period. Monday a low will gain strength from over the Gulf of Mexico bringing more rain to the area. Given these facts the flash flood watch may be extended but as more time progresses through this period we will see how the models change. The front is expected to leave the area around Tuesday afternoon. After this low pressure system passes though the area expect calmer weather during the rest of the forecast period.

Temperatures during this period will still be warmer after the fronts pass though our area. Expect highs to range around 65F-70F.
