Short Term(Today-Monday Morning)

Currently there is a frontal system that is affecting the Tallahassee area with rain. This frontal system is strong enough to bring some heavy showers at times and also some thunder and lighting. This system will also inhibit temperatures from reaching their seasonal averages today. The high for today will be around 86F. Lows for tonight are expected to be around 73F. Sunday highs are expected to be around 80F as the cloud cover from the system is expected to keep temperatures below seasonal averages. Also more rain is to be expected because of the slow moving frontal system. Lows for Sunday night will be around 75F.

Long Term(Monday Afternoon-Friday)

For the long term period both NAM and GFS models are in disagreement. Currently the NAM is more aggressive than the GFS model. Monday after the passing of the cold front is where the models start to disagree. The NAM model has two systems developing in the Gulf of Mexico. At this moment one will be a strong storm system developing from Mexico and moving to the Tallahassee area and the other system will develop off the coast of Louisiana. The GFS shows the system by Louisiana forming mid week but not the low system forming from Mexico. These conditions will require some closer observations to see if these systems form in the gulf. Temperatures during this period will be below seasonal averages during the long term period because of the showers that can form during the week. Temperatures are predicted to be around the low 80s during the daytime.

Short Term(Today-Thursday)

Currently there is a surface ridge in the area that will bring some pleasant weather for the short term period. Tonight the low will be around 74F. This temperature is above the seasonal average. This can be attributed to the cloud cover that will be in the area tonight. Wednesday's highs will be around 88F. This temperature will be around seasonal averages for this time of the year as this area will start to cool down. Lows for Wednesday night/Thursday morning will be around 70F. Highs for Thursday afternoon will be around seasonal averages which is around 88F. Models during the short term period are in agreement. The NAM and GFS both show showers forming off the coast of Florida during the short term period with a frontal system impacting the area for the weekend.
