System Failure

By: janslow, 1:56 PM GMT on August 11, 2014

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but Parker Bayfront PWS (KFLPANAM43) will be offline for an undetermined period of time as we try to resolve issues with both inaccurate temperature and rainfall indications. We hope to have the system back online very shortly, but at this time, we don't know what the cause of our problems is.

We will keep our users up-to-date on our progress, and we hope to return to service very soon.

System Adjustment

By: janslow, 5:10 PM GMT on July 23, 2014

Had to adjust the positioning of the PWS in order to realign with true south. Not sure how it had turned, but was nearly 10 degrees off. Not only would this have effected the wind measurements, but it also reduced the efficiency of the internal fan, impacting temperature readings. Hopefully, this will take care of any problems.

In an effort to improve the accuracy of the data reported by Parker Bayfront (KFLPANAM43), particularly the reported temperatures,, the weather station was unavailable today between 1800-1830 CDT for equipment upgrades. The upgrades have been completed, and the system is now fully operational. During the upgrade, however, there was erroneous rainfall data reported, which should be disregarded by users. The rainfall total, as of 1830 CDT, was 0.00" for the day.

Over the past several weeks, it has been noted that this PWS has been experiencing a temperature spike between the hours of 8:30AM CDT and 9:30AM CDT. This problem has been most notable on bright, sunny days, and often results in reported temperatures 7-12 degrees higher than any nearby sites. Before this time period, and afterward, the temperatures being reported have been in line with those from other nearby locations.

By: janslow, 3:14 AM GMT on June 24, 2014

Due to a severe electrical storm in the vicinity, lightning caused Parker Bayfront (KFLPANAM43) to go offline between the hours of 13:45CDT and 16:30CDT on Sunday, 22 June. This outage resulted in inaccurate historical data being recorded for the site during this period. We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may have caused.
