March 2015: Another Warmest Month on Record for the Planet

Dr. Jeff Masters, April 17, 2015

Director of Meteorology, Weather Underground

March 2015 was the warmest March since global record keeping began in 1880, said NOAA. March 2015's warmth makes the year to date period (January - March) the warmest such period on record, and the past twelve months the warmest twelve-month period in recorded history. Seven of the past eleven months (May, June, August, September, October, and December 2014, along with March 2015) have tied or set new record high monthly temperatures.

The Great California Storm of April 19-23, 1880

Christopher C. Burt, April 11, 2015

Weather Historian, Weather Underground

Could a single big late–season storm have a significant impact on the California drought? A 'Hail Mary' storm event? Normally by this time of the year (April 10th) California would have already received at least 90% of its rainy-season precipitation total and any additional rain or snowfall would have little impact so far as the current drought is concerned. 26-27 November 2014 Nor'easter

Zachary Labe, November 25, 2014

Northeast Weather Analyst

A low pressure will develop off the Southeast coast and move northeastward along the stalled front off the eastern seaboard. Precipitation will develop and expand across much of the Northeast by early morning Wednesday. Marginal cold air will limit the heaviest snow accumulations across inland locations along the foothills of the Appalachians. Most areas east of there will face slushy accumulations of less than three inches in addition to some rain.
