He is a little bit younger than the one that I started posting right after Mother's Day and his parents are the regulars in my backyard that I post a lot of.
His parents are the Cardinals that are regular visitors in my backyard that I have been posting pictures of for over a year.
I was outside watching and waiting for birds to come up and I heard this noisy guy and turned around as he landed on the fence in my backyard.
Young Male and Female Cardinal (

This brother and sister started coming into my backyard around Mother's Day with their parents. She is more shy than he is so I haven't got as many pictures of her yet but he is trying to show her the ropes :)
My favorite new guy in my backyard.
The Jay on the left was flapping it's wings like it was saying feed me until the one on the right looked like it hissed and said no way go get your own food in my backyard.

Male Northern Parula Warbler (

In my backyard. While the female and male look similar with a yellow chest the male also has an orange colored breast patch.
The young ones are learning to land and bathe in my backyard. They look a little like someone skipping stones across the water at first.

Or when the east meets the north in the south :) My first and only time ever of seeing a Bluebird and I had to scramble out of the pool and gesture to my husband as he was coming out of the door to Shhh and go get my camera. The sun had already gone behind the trees and was going down.

One Happy Female Cardinal (

Singing in the rain? :) No, but she just loved it when I set up a misting spray on a very hot day by the bird bath! Everytime there was a breeze it would blow the mist on her and if birds could smile...

Nah, it's a Northern Parula Warrbler but they make me happy everytime I see them :)
This Female Red-bellied Woodpecker has discovered the peanuts in my backyard but she resembles a red eye express as she swoops in and out.
A rare visit from a Female Summer Tanager to my backyard.
It was a first for Tanagers for me. She came down to the feeder with a lot of attitude, watching me all the while, and all she ate was some dried corn. They usally eat bees, wasp, etc.

A Juvenile Male Black-and-White Warbler (

in my backyard for the first time in months :) I first thought this was a female because the male has a black chin but the female is duller and has no check patch. When he gets older his cheek patch will turn all black and his chin will too.

Happy Valentine's Day ic!
Have a wonderful day - hope you have sunshine and loveshine both!
Thank you Code, Surfmom, Juslivin, Ally, and Linda! Surfmom that is such a beautiful and moving video. Juslivin, I'm with you, hurry up spring! I hope to catch spring fever and get back into taking pictures and when I do I will start a new blog. Linda, what a beautiful picture and beautiful words! After 26 years of being without my siblings and other family members I can now say I have lots of new loveshine in my life and the sun is shining here today, too! My big sister and I can not go a day now without checking on each other which is special to me beyond words. I was totally unprepared for how I would feel when I saw her for the first time, tears of joy just started flowing...Then when I got home and looked at the two pictures that were taken of us I cried again, happy tears. I hope you all have special people in your lives and thank you for being in mine. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you here at WU!!
Linda, you were so right spring is coming! I just came in from taking my dogs out and while I was outside I heard a Mourning Dove cooing, Cardinals cheeping, and a Woodpecker pecking :)
If any others of you join Facebook please look me up (Cathy Pinholster Moore)and send me a friend request. I even have a friend that was in my 1st grade class but moved away sometime afterwards. It's still all pretty amazing to me the power of the Internet and the power of love!
I am so sorry I am so late getting here.
First of all I want to say I'm sorry about the death of your Father. It is always hard to lose a parent.
Then I want to say Wonderful! that you and your siblings are talking again and you and your sister have become so close. That is great.
Familes are sometimes difficult relations, especially sisters.. my sister and I hardly spoke for several years but finally had to when Mother got sick. We still live in very different worlds but have learned to just get along when we need to for family's sake.
And this winter, especially Jan and Feb have been horrible but surely spring will eventually come! I have not even been able to get out in my back yard; it really needs a lot of work.
Anyway, cannot wait for you to get back out taking photos again.
As for Facebook, my kids are all there and a lot of family and friends, but I just do not have the time for any other networking....
it is hard enough for me to keep up here on WU! And I love this place.
Take care and come back soon!
Our Mom was the glue that held our family together and when she died the grief and differences took over. I am so happy to have my big sister back again..We are both old enough now to know that life is not forever and we have missed so much..like our children growing up and her having Grandchildren..and so much more but I don't want to dwell on those things I want to rejoice in the time we have left to be together :) even though we live in different states.
Spring will come but not tonight. We are suppose to see 25 degrees here tonight!!!
I don't have much time lately for networking anywhere and I held out for a long time going to Facebook but having all of my family members scattered around the country it has been a godsend. It is very different but I'm so glad I finally went for it but my first love will always be WU!!!
I hear you, nothing can replace WU!
So happy you enjoy my pictures because I seem to post them all the time! LOL my blog is never without pictures for very long.
Maybe in a week or two it will get warm again!
You enjoy your evening!

I am giving a lecture in New Zealand later this month that includes a discussion of birds' vision. It is free and open to the public (see http://bit.ly/K0a1a ) I should like to use your photo "Male and female cardinal" (1788) as an illustration in the lecture and in the local publicity materials. If you consent to this, would you please tell me the appropriate way to credit the photo, e.g. "Photo credit: Full name"
Best regards -
Charles Clark
You better be popping back up when you can, so we know all's well at your place.
